Great Minds

One of my co-workers and I have similar tastes in clothes.  In fact, we own a couple of the same items, but we've managed over the past decade to never ever wear them at the same time, nor have we ever accidentally worn close to the same thing.  That is, until today.  Both my friend and I have a polka dot fixation going on right now and both of us decided to pair our polka pick today with black.  We could have stayed away from each other, but we had a department luncheon plus she and I were in a training webinar in my office all afternoon.  So much for trying to subtly blow off wearing similar outfits!

While eating breakfast at work this morning, I happened to look down at my sleeve and noticed large dirt streaks on my cuffs.  I have no idea where they came from, but they were quite noticeable and unsightly.  I sighed, cuffed my sleeves and no one was the wiser today.  Quick thinking on my part!

I love my little outfit today and I am going to be wearing it at the soccer fields this evening for Kira's game.  I don't care that most people wear workout clothes to watch the games. I'm bringing preppy back to the field!

Throwback Thursday

I was feeling a little nostalgic today, so I decided to celebrate throwback Thursday.  This picture as taken on Christmas Eve at my grandparent's house probably when I was three or four.  My dress was from Polly Flinders and I used to love their dresses because they had really cute smocking in the front.  I wore these things up until Kindergarten when either someone said something mean, or you could see my underwear going down the slide.  It's been way too many decades since Kindergarten and I honestly don't remember what exactly happened!  I'm betting it was the underwear on the slide thing.

This has also been a big week in our household.  Yesterday, Dave and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary.  We were high school sweethearts who dated through college and then got married about two years after graduating college (yeah, I'm kind of getting old).  It's hard to believe it's been twenty years because it just seems like yesterday when we got married!  We haven't formally celebrated yet because I was at the gym watching Kira until late last night, but I'm sure we'll do something when things calm down around here!

Menswear, Kind Of

I walked around all day yesterday wearing these shoes with the stupid looking white socks poking out.  I had no idea until today just how dorky I looked.  I will say, my feet were pretty cozy up until late last night, so kudos to the dorky socks!

Summer?

I know I have complained about this before, but Ohio weather is very unpredictable.  Earlier this week, it was in the high seventies/low eighties.  Since yesterday, it's been in the fifties.  While I realize that according to the calendar it is still summer, apparently it is now fall in reality.  Kira had a soccer game last night and my Mother-in-law and I froze our butts off on the field.  Today, both she and I took charge and dressed as warmly as possible including gloves, scarves and winter coats.  Overkill....yes.   Were we warm....yes.  Do we care what others think? Obviously not since we packed on the parkas today!

Citrus Floral

I am not quite looking forward to fall yet and while I love the snuggly feel of cozy sweaters, I am not excited about being trapped in the sweater when the inevitable hot flashes hit.  I had an unexpected hysterectomy about two years ago and it threw me into instant menopause (yay).  I've always run a bit on the cold side, but as the years progress,  I'm getting warmer and warmer and just the thought of being stuck in something heavy when the hot flashes say hello makes me shudder.

Lacey Details

I have had this blouse for quite some time, but just haven't gotten around to wearing it until today.  I finally decided if I didn't get off my butt and wear it, it'll be next Spring before it makes an appearance, which assumes that I'd even remember I bought it.  I love the look of the blouse, but the air conditioning is still quite cold at work, so I threw a blazer over it.  While the blazer kind of detracted from the overall look, sometimes you have to go with function over style.
