The Rain Descends
Let's face it, I'm not a big outdoorsy-type person. However, when you have a child who's extremely athletic and said child takes up soccer as a sport and is good at it, you kind of have to adapt.
I have been rained on so many times this week, I've lost count. It was soccer try-out week in our area this week and as we sat in the stands watching her try out, it rained on us. Rained super hard. She was in a soccer tournament this weekend and Dave wouldn't let me drag my tent out because that was "just ridiculous". You know what, I saw the rain start pouring down on the field next to us and watched as people started screaming and running for their cars. The kids kept playing. Guess where my tent was? In the car. Yeah. The car. Great place for a weather tent. The car. I was ticked, but at this point, it was too late to go after it, so I moved the chair under my umbrella and hunkered down. Wet. I don't do "wet". Then today, it drizzled on us just enough to be annoying and it's chilly. It's the last day of May and it's like 60 degrees out. Thankfully, soccer is over for a few weeks and we can enjoy the climate controlled comfort of the gym for her gymnastics practices. I like those. They're indoors.

I've Been Around
I have no excuse this time for going radio silent. I just got busy and then days turned into more days and then I was like, "Crap, it's been a while." So, the new thing in my life is I took up boxing at a club in Dayton. We don't hit each other; we hit those giant 100+ pound bags. In between 8 three minute rounds with the bag, it's conditioning work. It's very tiring and I hurt all over. I'm hoping this helps firm some stuff up. Plus it's fun and my boxing gloves are pink. Yes. Pink!

Red Devil
I like the jacket I wore today a lot, but it's a little old ladyish. I fear this is a slippery slope. First it starts with ruched cherry/flower jackets paired with brightly colored pants and next, I'm walking down the street lit up like a Christmas tree. You gotta think, it has to start somewhere. I don't think some of these little old ladies wearing horrible clothing started out that way. Little by little the changes happened. My fear is it's starting.....

I'm Back!
I'm back from Nebraska and I'm really tired. We flew into Kansas City and then drove to Nebraska, which took us about 2 hours and 45 minutes and then spent about 3 days there working. Where we were at is in the middle of Tornado Alley and while we were there, I was watching the radar because some serious storms were moving into the area and while doing this, noticed we had a tornado warning. So I gathered my valuables, went down to the front desk of the hotel and asked the desk clerk if I should be worried. With a straight face, she pinched her fingers together about an inch apart and said, "A little bit." So now I'm freakin' freaked out. She told me to go stand in the hallway of the first floor and that people on the first floor were being told to get into their bathtubs. Great. Just great. We had 2 more tornado warnings that night and they got about 7.5 inches of rain with those storms. Thankfully, there were no touchdowns close to where I was. I am very glad to be back in Ohio!
