Happy Birthday...To Me!!!!

Today is my birthday and I'm not one of those people who run from their birthdays.  I embrace it.  It means I made it another year and I'm grateful to be alive, grateful for my family and the life we lead, and grateful for all my friends.

Kira made me the card above and gave it to me last night, with a Happy Day Before Your Birthday song, and gave me some gift cards to Banana Republic and Ann Taylor and then they took me shopping.  I'm a bit blue today because we're celebrating Thanksgiving with Dave's family today and won't be doing anything for my birthday and Kira knows I love to shop, so she coordinated the whole thing.

 I'm still the most interesting game in the hall.  Above is my new sweater I bought last night.

Per Kira...Colorful

 Kira was watching me get dressed this morning and when I pulled my sweater over my oxford, she got this horrified look on her face.  I said "What??" and she didn't say anything for a second.  Then she says "You should name your blog 'Colorful' today."  I said "Colorful in a good way?" and she says "Yes." 

I'm still not sure why the horrified look, but noone's stared at me today, so  I think I look ok.

My Shoes

 I love my shoes.  I saw them on J Crew's website a while back, but there was no way I was paying full price for them.  Then, they went on sale. Still a tad too pricey for me because I'm rough on shoes.  Then, 30% off of sale items.  Snatch!  Now they are mine!

 Check them out!  Aren't they pretty?? They were a conversation piece today at work too.

Black and White

 Bouncing through Ann Taylor last weekend, 30% off coupon and $15 off birthday coupon in hand, I walked past this blouse.  The pleats called to me from the hanger..."you must buy me"  "you must buy me" they said.  So, what does a girl do? I bought it and now both me and the blouse are happy campers!

Pickles

 I learned today that one of my co-workers has an adversion to pickles.  This particular friend of mine works out of his home in Florida (it's in the 80's there and in the low 40's in Ohio...sigh).  So, I couldn't help myself today and took a picture of my pickles at lunch and emailed them to him.  I laughed and laughed and laughed!

Revisiting the '80's

 One word for this sweater....LOUD.  One of my co-workers asked if I was shopping at Justice for myself now.  I thought I needed some big plastic earrings, some slouch boots and big hair to complete the look, but I refrained.

We are kicking butt on our Christmas shopping this year. Dave is done, Kira is done, and I know what I'm getting my parents.  Kira and Dave were tough because Dave doesn't like gifts (weird, I know) and my eight year old darling daughter doesn't play with toys, so she's kind of rough to buy for too.  Whoo hoo!!!  Now we can just enjoy the season without snarking at each other over gift ideas.

Lifesaver Variety Pack, Part 2

Technically, this skirt was with the late summer line from Talbots, but I think it looks a little fall like too.  I own the shirt that matches this skirt, and it all reminds me of a pack of lifesavers.  I love it, though!  I forgot I owned it until this weekend and thought, why not?

Currently, we have a homework battle going on in our house.  Kira has a ridiculous amount of work to get done tonight.  I'm not opposed to homework, but two hours a night for an 8 year old is way too much and by this point in the evening, she starts to feel tired and it goes downhill.  It would be one thing if we didn't work, but we do and it's a strain on the whole family.  Dave is much more patient than I am, so he's handling it right now.
