Ugh!

I really really really didn't like my outfit today, but I was already dressed by the time I realized it and continued on to work.  I like each piece individually, but the combination isn't really flattering.  I also dropped salad dressing on my blouse at lunch, making the situation worse.  At least it was fat free honey mustard dressing, so it matched.  I'm not really comfortable with belting my waist and I think that started the problem and I should have worn heels, but I wasn't in the mood.  I'll try again tomorrow!

Stripes Again

I love this jacket.  It's striped, it's colorful, it goes with lots of stuff and it's comfortable.  What else can you ask for?

Hummingbirds Love Polka Dots Too!

Betcha didn't know that hummingbirds were attracted to polka dots.  Some thing it is flower nectar and they would be wrong!!!!  At this point, you guys should all be frightened that I am responsible for the upbringing of a small child since I have some pretty craaaazzzy ideas!

I love my vintage hummingbird pins.  I sort of forgot about them until I was accessorizing my outfit last night.  I was so tickled when I found them in my drawer!  How can you possibly have a bad day when you are wearing something so festive?

Christmas Decorations

I spent a chunk of yesterday decorating for the holidays.  Last year, I had major surgery two weeks before Thanksgiving and wasn't able to decorate for Christmas...at all.  I wound up in a major fight with my husband who promised to decorate for me and he didn't do it.  It was ugly.  So, this year I was bent on making sure we decorated.  He pulled in all the boxes for me from the barn and I had at it yesterday.  Everyone helped with the tree because it's too big of a job for just one person.

I also don't own a Christmas tree star, so each year, a lucky stuffed animal is deemed the tree topper. This year, the winner was Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Pherb.  I really like it!
Our obnoxious tree.  I went out today and bought Kira a little tree for her room.  We swiped decorations off the main tree for her tree.  She was thrilled and it looks really cute in her room.

Lifesaver Variety Pack, Part 2

Technically, this skirt was with the late summer line from Talbots, but I think it looks a little fall like too.  I own the shirt that matches this skirt, and it all reminds me of a pack of lifesavers.  I love it, though!  I forgot I owned it until this weekend and thought, why not?

Currently, we have a homework battle going on in our house.  Kira has a ridiculous amount of work to get done tonight.  I'm not opposed to homework, but two hours a night for an 8 year old is way too much and by this point in the evening, she starts to feel tired and it goes downhill.  It would be one thing if we didn't work, but we do and it's a strain on the whole family.  Dave is much more patient than I am, so he's handling it right now.

It was Ironed

I'm ashamed to admit, sometimes my outfit selections are based on whatever is already ironed, or doesn't need to be ironed.  Today was one of those days.  After watching Olympic diving last night, I had little energy to iron plus, I wanted to go read a book.  So, today's outfit is all about what was ready to go in my closet.  Voila!

I bought this shirt from Ann Taylor on sale and it is very very very itchy.  It's lined, but the organza is poking through the lining.  Bets on how long I keep it on today?
Have a happy Saturday!

The Dog is Winning

She looks innocent enough, but lurking behind those adorable eyes is a monster manipulator and a milkbone addict.  She understands just exactly how cute she needs to look to get what she wants and I, her person, fall for it each and every time.

Dave had to get up early this morning to do some work and he apologized for that when he went to bed last night since I'm a light sleeper.  Thanks to Misha, we were up about 20 minutes before him to go on our morning milkbone run.  And of course, the dog goes BACK to sleep after getting her milkbone.

You would not believe how difficult it was to get her to sit still for this picture.  Thanks to Kira for bribing her with a milkbone to get her to sit still so I could snap this shot.
I haven't been feeling well this weekend, so this outfit is about all I have in me this morning.  I think I caught a stomach bug from a coworker.  I'm on the mend, but I'm still feeling a bit off.  I didn't have the energy to think through a necklace that would complement the low neckline, so I gave up and stacked some vintage bracelets and then found my favorite giraffe flats.  It will just have to do for today and at least I got out of my pajamas.

My Second Pair of Shorts

It's supposed to be super hot today, in the high eighties, so I busted out my second pair of shorts and a very light weight top.  The problem with my outfit is unless I'm outside, I'm freezing.  So I added a denim jacket to this ensemble to survive today.  I'm not sure why people have to turn the air on so low.  We wouldn't tolerate it being that cold inside in the winter, so what gives in the summer?

So far, the people at Hauer haven't looked at me weird for the Saturday morning photos, but I'm sure it's coming at some point!

Eye Love Eyelet

I love eyelet, but I never know what to wear with it.  Patterned shirts are out of the question because the eyelet already has a pattern in it and then I get stuck.  What to do, what to do?  So last night, I was strolling through my still clean closet and thought, OMBRE!  Then I pulled out a scarf that I've had for a while which belonged to my grandmother.  Threw on a pair of capris and comfy shoes, and voila!
I was very pleased with how the outfit turned out and I received numerous compliments today.  Maybe I've broken through my eyelet fashion block and it won't cause me so many issues going forward!

These are three separate vintage bracelets that matched the colors in the scarf.
