Bleeting Sheep

My darling daughter woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.  It was on the wrong side of the tracks in a bad part of town kind of bad.  While I was finishing my hair, she was screaming MOOOOMMM MOOOOOOMMM from the family room because she wanted me to get her breakfast.  I screamed back WHHHHAAAATTTTTT several times, indicated I was finishing my hair and would be with her momentarily and continued what I was doing.  Then it hit me.  We sounded like bleeting sheep.  Baaaa

Conservative is Dull

Lately, I've been in more of a conservative mood regarding my outfits.  I'm not sure why, but I think it's because I'm stressed at work.  This outfit is perfectly fine for an accountant, but doesn't fit my normal personality.  I think I'm going to need to break out some neon this week!

Why

Why is it that your hair looks completely whacked when you schedule a hair appointment and then the day before the appointment, your hair decides to behave and look good?  I think it is a conspiracy.  Nevertheless, I'll be spending a chunk of tomorrow getting my hair colored, highlighted and cut.  Take that hair!

Gapitis

When I looked at the pictures I took this morning on my computer tonight, I noticed the serious gap on my shirt.  The shirt isn't too small and I think the gap was created because of my jacket pulling on the shirt.  Whatever the reason for its origination, I sure hope I didn't walk around all day flashing people.  If I did, I hope they enjoyed the view!

The Perfect Color

I love my cobalt blazer from J Crew.  The only problem is, it's pure wool and in a couple of months, it will be too warm to wear it. Sadness.  So, I went on the hunt for a cotton twill cobalt blue blazer.  I do have a cobalt colored blazer in my possession, but it's three quarter length sleeved and belted, and it trends more towards the dressy side.  I wanted something like this blazer that can be dressed up, or down.  I looked on eBay, I looked at all my online shopping haunts, and nothing.  Then, low and behold, over the weekend, Loft came through for me.  The delightful cotton twill cobalt blue blazer arrived last night and it is amazingly close in color and shape to this one.  Happiness!

I tacked on this blazer to my outfit last night at the last minute because the weather was supposed to be wet and crummy and I thought I'd get cold at work.  Its addition was honestly an afterthought and I was super pleased with how it turned out.  The blazer matched the stripes in my shirt perfectly.  I know, matchy matchy is bad, but I feel more comfortable when I'm coordinated and I think that no matter how you put an outfit together, if you feel good about what you're wearing, you project positivitey to those around you.

The Jacket Purge

I bought three, yes three, new jackets from the Gap recently.  One is kelly green, one is lilac and one is bright yellow.  I was in my closet yesterday getting ready to put two of the jackets away and finally realized something(s) had to go.  I spent a chunk of last night pulling out all the jackets and getting a pile together to donate of things that I haven't worn in a couple of years.  I tend to hang onto things a little longer than I should because you never know when you're going to need a particular shade of something, but I don't wind up wearing a lot of nice things because everything is crammed in there.  I guess I had my own intervention last night.

Three French Hens

Ok, I am seriously loving my french hen shirt.  They are french because they are wearing berets and yes, I did point this out to one of my co-workers today.  The shirt just makes me smile and sometimes, you just need that.

I bought this jacket last fall and I wore it to death last year.  Looks like I'm going to be wearing it a lot this year too!  It goes with everything!

I'm noticing I looked a little drugged this morning.

Christmas Decorations

I spent a chunk of yesterday decorating for the holidays.  Last year, I had major surgery two weeks before Thanksgiving and wasn't able to decorate for Christmas...at all.  I wound up in a major fight with my husband who promised to decorate for me and he didn't do it.  It was ugly.  So, this year I was bent on making sure we decorated.  He pulled in all the boxes for me from the barn and I had at it yesterday.  Everyone helped with the tree because it's too big of a job for just one person.

I also don't own a Christmas tree star, so each year, a lucky stuffed animal is deemed the tree topper. This year, the winner was Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Pherb.  I really like it!
Our obnoxious tree.  I went out today and bought Kira a little tree for her room.  We swiped decorations off the main tree for her tree.  She was thrilled and it looks really cute in her room.

Snails at Play

I hate days like  this. I'm all pumped up and working hard and someone comes in and tells me bad news and it ruins my motivation.  I know I need to do better with that, but I am who I am.  Oh well, tomorrow will be a better day!

I'm Starting to Like Red

I have very few red articles of clothing because to me, it's an angry color.    However, I'm starting to really like my red blazers (I own 2).  I don't think I'm ready to bust out a red shirt yet....baby steps.

I Bought A Steamer! Hurray!

I bought a little travel steamer a couple of weeks ago to see if it does better on blazers when traveling.  I'm happy to report, it does.  The problem with my baby steamer is it only lasts through about two pieces of clothes before you have to refill it.  That's a pain.  So today, we went out to purchase a couple of birthday gifts for some parties Kira's going to next weekend and we took a detour through the linen store to hunt for a reasonably priced, larger steamer.  We found one for $50 and it lasts for 30 minutes and you don't have to wait for it to cool down before refilling.  Yes, boring, but I was so excited I came home and steamed most of my clothes for the week.  I have to get the iron out for the pure cotton things because they require starch, but the steamer does wonders on jackets.

I now know how my mom felt when she got a new vacuum cleaner.  I guess I'm officially old.  It had to happen at some point!
Now I'm off to the gas station to fill up my car for the week.  The fun just continues!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Bubbles

Kira named by blog post tonight because she said my shirt looks like it has bubbles all over it.  So, bubbles it is!
I dressed for soccer practice because between homework and dinner, I knew I wouldn't have time to change before we had to rush out the door.  I ditched the jacket because it's warm, but the rest worked really well sitting out in the sun tonight. The pants are from the Gap and they are super soft and comfortable.  I liked them so much, I have them in peach, neon pink, and blue.  It's a good thing I wore long pants because the parts of my skin that were exposed were bitten by bugs living at the soccer field.  Ugh. I.hate.bugs.

Hope your evening is bug free!

Heart Attack Moment

Kira has soccer practice tonight and it looks like rain.  So I checked the radar while sitting at a traffic light on my way home and sure enough, rain is on it's way.  Storms, actually.  So I called my husband to get his thoughts on whether we should skip out on practice because a) I don't want Kira out in the middle of a field during a storm, and b) I melt when wet.  We agree to take her and leave if it starts to look omnious.

So, I get to daycare and the staff tells me she's already been picked up.  I freaked.  Then they told me her grandma picked her up.  Dave's mom.  Dave forgot to tell me.  I just got off the phone with him and he neglected to tell me.  He was very apologetic after the follow up phone call from me.  Grrrrrrr.

Rushed

I've been rushing around all morning trying to get things done for my trip on Monday.  I'm anxiously awaiting Kira getting home so we can run and get her hair cut.  Then, she's going to open gym and I should work on my CPE, but I think I'm going shopping.  I'm hoping to get mostly packed today so I don't have to deal with it tomorrow.  She's got a soccer game tomorrow afternoon and we're "snack parents".  Whoo hoo!  Hope you have a wonderful Saturday!

The Squirrel

Last night, when the cable guy was here and I was working on my CPE, I heard a crash in our living room.  I went to investigate and then didn't see anything, so I went back to work.  Then I heard a scratching and thud noise coming from the living room.  Back in I went and you know what?  We have an animal in our chimney.

First step, freak out.  Second step, call Dave at Kira's soccer camp.  Third step, freak out again.

Dave said "maybe it's a bird", I said "I hear feet", Dave came home and agreed - feet.  So, I called the critter control people today and had to take a half day off work to wait for them to get here today. Sure enough, squirrel in the fireplace.

You know what?  It's still there.  They set traps and left.  Great. Just great.  I pay them hundreds of dollars to trap the animal and they leave WITHOUT the stinking animal!  Then, when I asked where they release the animals, the guy hemmed and hawed and then admitted that they euthanize them.

WHAT????????  I was in tears.  I asked, so what happens if after we get him in the trap and we place him outside if one of his "squirrel" friends releases the prisoner.  He said if he didn't know, then that was ok.  The guy must have felt horrible because after he left, he came back and said he'd release the squirrel for us in the backyard.  That's of course, after we catch it.  Kira's voting for euthanizing it.  Dave's the deciding vote.  I hope he does the right thing.

Sometimes life goes weird on you and right now we're in a weird patch.
