Space Bags
Last Spring, I went a little crazy when I was switching around my winter and spring clothes and bought a bunch of those space bag things to throw my heavier winter sweaters in. Then, over the summer, I went a little crazy and bought a bunch of capris that took up the space where the winter sweaters lived. Then came winter, and I had a little problem. I didn't have enough space for the heavier sweaters. Purge, you say???? Nu uh. I have a space bag that permanently lives on the floor underneath my blazers in the closet. Well the problem with that plan was I forgot that I put sweaters in there until I was hunting for a pair of shoes and ran into it. Oh my, it was like Christmas! This argyle sweater was in there as was its mint green twin. It's like going on a big shopping trip, but it didn't cost me anything extra! In case you are wondering, I have two space bags full of shoes that live under the blazers in my closet too. No spare inch of space is unused in there.

Ugh!
I really really really didn't like my outfit today, but I was already dressed by the time I realized it and continued on to work. I like each piece individually, but the combination isn't really flattering. I also dropped salad dressing on my blouse at lunch, making the situation worse. At least it was fat free honey mustard dressing, so it matched. I'm not really comfortable with belting my waist and I think that started the problem and I should have worn heels, but I wasn't in the mood. I'll try again tomorrow!

The Principal's Office
On the way home from work/school today, Kira announced that she got called down to the Principal's Office today. I exclaimed "What did you do???" And Kira proceeded to tell me that she didn't do anything, the Principal wanted to personally thank her for a job well done volunteering at school this past Sunday. I asked if she was scared, and she said "YES! I was about to pee my pants!"
It's 64 degrees in southwestern Ohio today, which is nice, but kind of wrong for January. I busted out some new capris that I purchased from Banana Republic with a birthday gift card. I don't own many patterned pants, and this one is subtle with a little fleur de lis all over it. I gotta tell you, they weren't the most comfortable pants to wear all day. The fabric was stiff and the waist band was constricting, even though the pants fit fine. It'll be a while before I wear them again because it's supposed to get cold again on Thursday. Back to winter!
Off to work!

Dandelion
My skirt reminds me of the color of dandelions. In person, it's a little more greenish yellow than sulpher yellow, but close to a dandelion just the same. At the last minute this morning, I opted for lower heels so I wouldn't suffer all day tomorrow. The outfit was a bit warm because temperatures rose to in the 50's today and this outfit is more suited for the 20's or 30's because the skirt is boucle wool and the blazer is wool. I also love the look of the blouse, but the positioning of the wrist buttons actually hurt to type or use the mouse today. Believe it or not, how they knotted the button thread lead to it stabbing my wrist. All day, I daydreamed of getting out the sisscors and hacking off the buttons. The only thing that stopped me is I dislike sewing and I'd would have had to sew the things back on.

Prep School
We spent a chunk of this morning and afternoon at Kira's school and the church attached to the school for an open house. It's the start of Catholic School's week in our area and they open up the school annually to try to recruit new students. Kira volunteered to help today and as her people, we go along for the ride.
I only made it 24 days with my ban on internet shopping. The Gap ruined it by selling these kelly green pants. Green is my favorite color and I love the ankle length at the Gap because it's the perfect length for me to be able to wear flats. When I pulled them out of the package, I was giddy with excitement. I have so much in my closet that will match these things! Now finding space in my closet to put them is a different story entirely!

Duck Mommy!
I ventured outside this morning to take my shots. It wasn't fully light out yet and it was quite cold.
My mini photographer came out in the middle of the shoot and told me my head was cut off in the pictures I'd already taken. The third picture in today's post is where Kira yelled at me "DUCK YOUR HEAD IS CUT OFF!" and I ducked. I think our neighbors think we're nuts.
The top half of my outfit was purchased for a steal on ebay. The jacket is pure wool and there literally is nothing wrong with it. Our server at dinner tonight even complimented me on it, asked me where I got it and I was honest with her. There's no shame in bargain shopping! Ebay is a LOT of fun!!

Snow Casual
It snowed today. Apparently, Mother Nature did not hear me when I said winter was over. O.V.E.R. It thankfully started after I was at work and the roads were clear by the time I left. But still.

Daughter of Mine - Don't You Roll Your Eyes At Me
Kira is in a particular pain in the bottom mode tonight. She's stomping around the house, huffing and being generally not nice. I gave her homework corrections and as she walked away, she rolled her eyes at me. Not very subtly either. I've lost track of how many parentisms I've had to use since becoming a parent, but out from my mouth comes "Don't you roll your eyes at me!" The retort..."I didn't!" (insert another huff and eye roll here). Her dad has since taken over homework for the night.
On a lighter note, I loved my outfit today. I'm a big fan of scarf prints and I'm so glad they are coming back. Bouncing through Macy's, I happened upon this blouse, but Dave was with me, so I didn't buy it. When I got home, I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I ordered it online and I'm really glad I did.
Smiles and no eye rolls!

White After Labor Day
Don't tell on me...I'm wearing white after labor day. I'm shameless! Back in the day, I would have been breaking a variety of fashion rules, but I'm really glad that anything goes now.
I'll be honest, the top half of my outfit was inspired by another blogger, but I mixed it up a little differently. I never think to drag out my whites in the middle of winter, but it kind of helped having something bright on today because it's really dismal out. I'm also not sure what's going on with my hair today. I'll blame the weather for that too!!!

Tipsy
I have a polka dot and stripe fixation, but I also am very enamored with the color navy blue. And when you add anything "tipped" to my navy, I am just giddy. Truly truly giddy.
I bought this blazer at Banana Republic last winter and I love it. It goes with lots of stuff in my closet and is cozy to wear all day. That came in handy today because we didn't have much heat until this afternoon. When the heat finally kicked in, it was blazing hot in the office. There's no happy in between, so I'm going to have to continue to layer.

Lots of Layers for a Reason
Today is a company holiday. Today, I worked in the office from about 7:30 until 1:15 and when I left, there were people still there. You know what was missing from today? Heat. We asked for heat, we were told we'd be given heat, but sadly, we were not gifted heat. This isn't the first time this has happened, so I dressed in as many layers as possible today, shut my office door, turned on the space heater, kept my winter coat on, put on fingerless gloves and wrapped myself in a blanket. Yeah, that's why I left at 1:15.
Also, Southwestern Ohio had a bit of a snow squall around lunch today, which created blizzard-like, white out conditions in seconds, and it only lasted a couple of minutes. However, it was bad enough that there's currently a 50 car pile up on I-75 just a little bit south of here and in Cincinnati, there's what they are estimating to be around a 70 car pile up on I-275. The pictures are incredible and it all happened in seconds. Makes the no heat issue seem trivial. I did have to figure out an alternative route home because the highway is shut down. A 50 car pile up is worthy of a shut down.
Smiles!
