Cobalt is AWESOME!

My love affair with cobalt continues.  It's been a while since I've worn the color and I'd forgotten just how well it goes with everything.  EVERYTHING.  Take this tartan blazer for example.  On the hanger, there's no way it looked like it would look good with these pants.  Then I put them on and  wow!  Everything popped!  All hail cobalt!

Thank You Random Magazine Ad

I swiped this outfit idea right out of some random magazine ad.  I never know what to pair with red pants and when I saw the magazine, I knew I had to try this.  I was really pleased with this one!!

Where the Buffalo Roam

I didn't plan on wearing this skirt with this shirt today, but things went wrong this morning.  The upper half of me was already dressed and I'd finished with my hair and when I put the skirt I planned to wear on and it just wasn't comfortable.  Since I have an office job, I sit most of the day and I thought, "Nuh uh, no way, not all day."  So off the skirt came.  I was in a bit of a hurry, so I grabbed this teal skirt off the door because it was ironed, threw it on, took a look in the mirror and thought, "That'll work."  Believe it or not, I received a lot of compliments today.  The funny thing is, I literally threw it all together at the last minute!

I'm a Lumberjack

I like each of these pieces separately, but I'm not so sure I like them together.  By the time I figured this out, it was too late to change.  Oh well, they won't all be winners!

The Wedding That Wasn't

A friend of ours had her wedding last night.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature also decided to grace us with a snow storm.  The snow came down pretty quick and the roads became icy before the road crews could put salt down.  It took my mom almost two hours to drive 20 miles to our house because she was riding with us to the wedding and when she arrived, we all piled into Dave's car and headed out.  That wasn't meant to be.  Dave backed his car out of our driveway and into a snow bank where it got stuck.  We tried to liberate it with no luck.  So we all piled into mom's car and went on our way.  Well, the first picture above is mom's car as it dangled off the side of the road into a ditch.  Thankfully, no one was hurt.

As we were trying to figure out what to do, mom says, "I don't have a lot of gas."  So, I looked down at the gauge and sure enough, she was almost on empty.  CRAP.  The angels were looking out for us last night because some very very very nice people stopped and pulled us out using some form of pulley attached to a big truck.  After we got back on the road, we decided this just wasn't meant to be and went back home. Mom spent the night with us because the roads were just too bad to travel and I lectured her on having a full tank of gas anytime it snows.  My dad was the common sense car guy, so I guess I'll need to take on that role since he's no longer with us.

Knife Pleats

I am a total sucker for pleats.  They aren't always flattering, but if something has a pleat to it, I'm immediately drawn in.  I've had this skirt for well over ten years and I forgot I owned it.  Since I've been thumbing my nose at winter this week and wearing skirts, I decided to pull it out.  The skirt is from Ann Taylor and it's held up really well over the years.  It also didn't wrinkle at all today, so that was a bonus!

I've Missed You Skirts

I haven't worn a lot of skirts or dresses this winter because the weather has just been too nasty.  It's made me a bit sad because I love to dress up.  In planning my outfits for the next few weeks, I decided to heck with it, I'm breaking out some skirts.

I looked ridiculous walking into work this morning in my mid calf length, white, poofy coat, Bog boots and a giant scarf around my neck, but I was able to make it in the building without my legs falling off.   Not too many people saw my run from car to work door ensemble, so that's a bonus too because I really did look stupid, but I was warm!!!

Snowstorm on the Serengeti

Kira had another soccer game this morning and the indoor venue where she plays can get kind of cold, so I dressed for warmth today.  It snowed (again) this morning, so we had a slushy drive over to the game.  They won, 10 to 3, so it was worth the effort!
