The Wedding That Wasn't

A friend of ours had her wedding last night.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature also decided to grace us with a snow storm.  The snow came down pretty quick and the roads became icy before the road crews could put salt down.  It took my mom almost two hours to drive 20 miles to our house because she was riding with us to the wedding and when she arrived, we all piled into Dave's car and headed out.  That wasn't meant to be.  Dave backed his car out of our driveway and into a snow bank where it got stuck.  We tried to liberate it with no luck.  So we all piled into mom's car and went on our way.  Well, the first picture above is mom's car as it dangled off the side of the road into a ditch.  Thankfully, no one was hurt.

As we were trying to figure out what to do, mom says, "I don't have a lot of gas."  So, I looked down at the gauge and sure enough, she was almost on empty.  CRAP.  The angels were looking out for us last night because some very very very nice people stopped and pulled us out using some form of pulley attached to a big truck.  After we got back on the road, we decided this just wasn't meant to be and went back home. Mom spent the night with us because the roads were just too bad to travel and I lectured her on having a full tank of gas anytime it snows.  My dad was the common sense car guy, so I guess I'll need to take on that role since he's no longer with us.

Smiles!
Lori
