Happy Halloween

Today, we had a festive Halloween celebration at work including a costume contest and a decorating contest.  I don't like to dress up, so this was my concession.  I think I look festive.

There's Halloween dogs and cats on my scarf!

Beggar's Night

In Dayton, we've always called Trick or Treat Night, Beggar's Night. I'm not sure why, it's just the way it's always been.  I work in Cincinnati and years ago, I mentioned Beggar's Night and they had no earthly clue what I was talking about.  Who would have thought 40 miles would make that much of a difference in what things are called.

My capris are color blocked and yes, this was on purpose.  I just purchased the pieces at different times and paired them together today.
I was nervous wearing this today because it is really really REALLY bright, but I received numerous compliments.  I stalked this shirt at J Crew until it went on sale.  The original price was just too ridiculous.  The capris were on sale too and had I waited another week, I would have gotten them at a further marked down price with an extra 30% off.  Oh well.  Their sister color blocked capris arrived today and I got them for a steal!

Here's my little devil in her Halloween costume.  She's currently braving the elements with her dad begging for candy (the origination of the term Beggar's Night!)  We're  not expecting a huge crowd because it's cold, very windy and spitting rain, but there are a few die hards out there traipsing around the neighborhood.  Come to our house kiddos cause I'll be giving out fistfuls of candy!!!!!

Remnants of the Hurricane

Even though I live in southwestern Ohio, we do occassionally get remnants of hurricanes flowing through here.  Today and tomorrow, we're getting the remnants of Hurricane Sandy and the rain is making it's way here.  While we aren't getting it nearly as bad as the eastern half of Ohio, we've got a high wind advisory and we could get snow tonight because of it.  Freaky, huh?

By the way, the Leibold girls lost the championship game yesterday.  They played a great game and displayed excellent sportsmanship throughout the season.  Noone got hurt and they had a lot of fun.  They received a giant finalist trophy that will be displayed at the school.  All in all, a fantastic season!

The Big Game

Today I have a pretty significant dilemna.  About 8 months ago, my mom asked me to attend her church's 50th anniversary celebration, which is today.  We agreed, paid the money for the catered luncheon and marked the date on the calendar.  THEN, Kira's soccer team headed off to their tournament games, which have been going on both days of the weekend since last weekend.  The girls won their game yesterday and now they are in the championships, which are happening at the same time as today's celebration at my mom's church.  There's no way we could have known this, or predicted this back when we were asked to attend.  Making it to the championship game isn't a given in any soccer season, so this is a pretty significant event for Kira.  I cannot be at two places at the same time and someone is going to be mad at me by lunch today.

I am just sick over this situation and very very upset.  I don't want to upset my mom, but I don't want to upset Kira either.  So, the compromise I have  made is we will all attend the church service itself, Dave and Kira will leave early to get to warm ups and I'll leave a little bit later to get there by game time.  Then, if the party is still going on after the game, we'll stop back by the church.  It's the best I can do in a very sticky situation, but I will not miss my daughter's big game.  That's asking way too much of a mother.

So, for anyone reading my blog who is mad at me over this, I'm sorry.  I will do the best I can, but someone will not be completely happy with my decision.  That's just life.
I will, however, be overdressed for the soccer game today because I don't have time to change.

Nebraska

I'm back from Nebraska and I am tired.  It was cold there too and now back in Ohio, it's cold and pouring down rain.  Ugh.

All That Is Missing Are Go Go Boots

I went a little retro today and I was surprised at how many compliments I received.  I've had this dress a while, but forgot about it.  I was a little nervous pairing it with the brown shirt, but it somehow worked!

I'm off to Nebraska tomorrow, so I won't be posting Wednesday or Thursday.  I'll take outfit pix in the hotel and I'll post them on Friday.

Have a great rest of the week!

Summer Again?

The weather here is craaazy.  It's in the 70's today and it's going to be back down in the 50's by the weekend.  I'm flying to Nebraska Wednesday and it's supposed to be 80 there and then 52 on Thursday.  How do you pack for that??????  I asked my co-workers to do something about their weather, but they were largely unsympathetic.  I guess it really doesn't matter because we'll be sitting in a conference room all day.

Soccer Mom - Equestrian Style

Well, the girls won round one of the soccer tournament and they play again this afternoon.  I wore my soccer mom sweatshirt yesterday, so I had to come up with something church/soccer field appropriate since we'll be in a rush after church today to eat lunch and get to the fields.  Dave criticized this sweater last year, so I was a bit nervous wearing it today.  So far, no comments from him!  He likes to make up cutsey, sometimes not so nice, labels for my outfits.

My early morning nemisis.  I blocked the door today with a giant Longaberger basket so she couldn't scratch against it.  HAHAHAHAHAAH Mishsa! You had to WAIT for your Milkbone!  Funny thing is, she's expecting a Milkbone in this photo too. The dog has some issues.

Fingers crossed that the Eagles win and noone gets hurt!  Thanks to Kira for taking the extra shots today.  Sorry about the messy house background.  I really don't like to clean.

Ebay Score!!!

I bought this delightful jacket off ebay for under $20. It's from Talbots, it's in perfect shape AND it has polka dots.  Does it get any better than this???
Sassy at 6:20 in the morning!!

I'm going back to Nebraska for a couple of days next week, so I'm going to relax and enjoy the weekend.  I hope you enjoy your weekend too!!

Pretty in Pink

I stole this color combination idea from a J Crew email.  I received a lot of compliments on my outfit today, especially my hot pink sweater.

Color brightens everyone's world!

The Harvest

Ever get dressed and then look in the mirror and realize you aren't feeling the outfit?  That was me today. It was too late to change, so I decided to live with the decision today, but I didn't feel good in my own skin in this and I was also uncomfortable all day.  I tried tucking in the top, but the pants are very low waisted, so that just made things worse.  To top it off, my face started breaking out, so then I felt a little icky from that. I'm wearing polka dots tomorrow.  Everything is better if it has dots on it.

Sort of smiling,

Bunnicula

Kira's reading a new book called Bunnicula.  Yes, it is about a vampire bunny.  The dog and the cat are suspicious, but so far, the bunny hasn't been called out as a vampire.  However, it's only a matter of time before the bunny's nasty secret is uncovered.  I wonder what vampire bunnies eat.  This aught to be interesting.  I'm having Kira retell the story to me in her own words and her retelling is even better than reading the book. She can be soooo very dramatic!!

Sunshine and Daisies

I decided to dress up today and actually wear heels today.  I love these shoes, but by about 2 this afternoon, my feet really hurt.  However, my thighs and calves hurt from painting, so that pain outweighed the foot pain.

I love my Tiffany key and when I got to work, I noticed that the daisy pattern on my key matched the daisy pattern on my jacket.  I'm not that clever...it was an accident.

Happy Monday!
