Day To Night Soccer Mom Looks

I apologize for falling off the face of the earth this week.   I was extremely busy and Dave went out of town for work, so by the time Kira was in bed each night, I fell into bed too.

My darling daughter had soccer try outs this week and I'm pleased to say she made a select team in the area.  That's where two of my nights were spent this week...sitting on the field watching her tryouts.  In between the tryouts, she actually had soccer practice, so I sat in the car that night.  My clothing this week reflects what I could get away with at work and still be considered business casual, what was washable and what could withstand sitting in 80 degree heat out in a field for hours on end. It's not glamorous, but it reflects my reality.

Before and After

Today was haircut and color day.  I let my stylist have at it again and we went with an angled bob.  Kira hates it. I like it.

Profesh Dress

I had to attend a small after work function tonight where our CEO and several board members were in attendance.  I decided that given the audience, I needed to dial it back A LOT from what I would normally wear to work.  The attire was business casual, but I've found I'd rather err on the side of more professional rather than less when faced with functions such as this.  While my outfit is still very professional, I think I managed to give it a bit of flair with the peter pan collar grid shirt peeking out from the dress.

Bold Stripes

Sometimes what I'm willing to wear to work amazes me.  Today was one of those days.  I whipped out this totally non-accountant like striped ensemble to wear today and I have to tell you, I was happy all day.  I don't care that I got some unusual looks from the normal people wearing black slacks.  They didn't have pep in their step today because stripes add to your peppiness.  Yes, they do and now you know.  You are welcome!

Hexacheck

I wasn't in the mood to iron this morning, so I spent a bunch of time in my closet trying to figure out what to wear that didn't need ironing and this is what I came up with.  The funny thing is, it would have taken less time to just iron something.  But I was sticking with my plan and here you go!

Return of Lori

I took a brief break this week from blogging because I was a little blue.  We had two co-workers leave us this week, one voluntarily and one not voluntary and I was a little depressed.  Our department keeps shrinking and it's almost like we grieve every time a person leaves us.  It's sad and depressing, but will ultimately be the best thing for those that have left.  It's just hard being the ones left behind. Change is a reality, but change isn't any fun.

Accountant Style

I had to attend a meeting in downtown Cincinnati this morning and there was no mention of type of attire on the meeting invitation.  I erred on the side of super professional, which is something I don't normally do since we're loosely business casual where I work.  I am really glad I did because it was a sea of gray, black and blue suits.  We've got the market cornered on boring style.  Not a gingham or polka dot in sight today.  Sigh.

Unsuitable

Technically, my outfit today qualifies as a business suit, but it's not stuffy.  I saw the jacket on Ann Taylor's website and went to the store to check it out and saw the pants that matched.  It may be slightly over the top, but I like its funkiness!!
