Bright!

Yeah, these pants are as bright as they look.  I like them, though!

Today's blog will be short because my daughter is having a fit because she wants to play math games on my computer.  It's hard to argue with that since it's education based, so short blog it is!

Disco Nights

So, when I put on this outfit this morning, I knew I was going to get some form of comment from my husband.  I was pleasantly surprised when I got a "wow" and then he help up the peace sign to me with his fingers.  I am channeling a bit of a '70's fondue party with this, but it turned out pretty good.  I specifically bought the belt at Talbots yesterday for the waist of this blouse.  Kira liked all the colors in it except the gold.  For some reason, the gold annoyed her!  I changed out of this after church because I had to become gym mom and take Kira to a back handspring clinic in Cincinnati this afteroon.  My gym mom clothes are more tame (baby blue oxford shirt, white sweater vest, jeans and penny loafers).

We were at the gym for a chunk of the afternoon, but I'm pleased to say that Kira can now do a back handspring.  She's in the second row next to the red bunting on the trampoline (she's looking at the camera).

Hauer

This is downtown Dayton in the early 1900's.  It was a thriving downtown at that point in time.  You can still see the trolley lines in places on the roads in the city.

This was some form of circus.  In the caged car, it says "Don't get too close!", but there's really no animal in there. It's a person dressed up as a tiger.

This is a general store in Dayton in the early 1900's.

On Saturdays, we go to Hauer Music in downtown Dayton for my daughter's guitar lessons.  I love Hauer because they've been in business forever and they have a lot of old pictures from Dayton's hey day when the economy was growing and people actually went downtown.  I love to walk up and down the halls and look at the pictures while Kira's in her lesson.  It makes me miss my grandmother who lived through all this and the stories she used to tell me when she babysat me.

My outfit was thrown together at the last minute and I swear the pants fit me when I bought them. I guess I've lost more weight.  I'm going to attempt to shrink them in the wash and with my fantastic laundry skills, I'm sure that won't be a problem.

Happy Saturday everyone!

Yacht Club

Today, my outfit represented preppy gone wild.  It incorporate my love of the stripe and my love of loud colors.  Green is also my favorite color, so all in all, it was a great day outfit wise!

I Blinked

Tonight, we rushed over to church so Kira could get her First Communion pictures taken with her class.  Her actual First Communion is next weekend, but they took the photos tonight.  After the photo shoot, I snapped a few pictures in the back of the church.  When we got home, I was feeling a bit weepy, so I pulled out her Baptism picture.  She has grown into a beautiful young lady in the time it took me to blink my eyes.  I cannot believe how much she has grown!  By the way, veils are a giant pain in the bottom to keep straight on a wiggly girl's head and Kira kept complaining about how difficult poofy dresses are to sit in.  I told her to wait until she gets married because those dresses are poofier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today, I pulled out an older outfit that now fits since I've lost weight.  Everything is from Ann Taylor and is about four or five years old.   I am so glad tomorrow is Friday.  It's been a very hectic close week and I'm ready for it to be done.  At least the weekend won't be busy (HAHAHAHAHA!)

Much Better

Today, I felt more like myself and not some big giant orange puff-a-lump like yesterday.  I think I had a much more productive day too because I felt better in my own skin.

It's quarter close at work (again), so we've been really busy and tomorrow's going to be worse. I enjoy the pressure and the deadlines, but I'm really looking forward to taking a day or so off next month.

Hammer Time

I'm pretty fearless when it comes to wearing colors, but today I think I went over the top.  The pictures don't do justice to just how orange these pants really are.  It's not orange in a nice way either.  I tried to tone it down by wearing reasonably conservative stuff on top, but really, there's nothing I could have done to lessen the impact of these pants.  They didn't seem that orange until I got to work.  Blame the florescent lighting.  Plus, they were a little too big and I felt like MC Hammer all day.  I think this outfit is going to the back of the closet.  Oh well, I'll try to do better tomorrow!

Paisley Park

I love this sweater from Lands End.  It matches quite a bit in my closet.  I never thought it would match my new J Crew Paisley blouse, but there's mint green in the blouse too!  I also love the look of my pumps, but oh my, do they hurt!!!!!

The bracelet was a gift from Christina M. Boutique, Etsy.  It came as a surprise with the necklace I ordered from her shop.

Happy Monday everyone!

It's Sunday

I bought this necklace on Etsy at Christina M. Boutique.  It's the second necklace I've purchased from this shop and when I opened my package this week, the shop owner sent me this beautiful bracelet (see last photo) for free.  It's a really pretty bracelet and I was so surprised she sent it for free!!! I'm planning on wearing it to work tomorrow.

Our weekends anymore are always rushed.  On Saturday, we had to pick my husband up at the tire place, go to Kira's soccer (where I worked in the car during her practice since it's quarter close),  return my husband to the tire plance, and then we rushed home, ate lunch, returned some things at Dicks and then rushed over to Kira's gymnastics exhibition. Then it was off to Target.  We finally settled down and watched a documentary on how Pluto was declassified as a planet.  Yeah, Kira will have some interesting things to tell her friends later in life as to what her parents made her do!

Today, we went to church, then the post office, then to Chinese school, stopped and got gas, ironed clothes, hemmed two pairs of uniform pants for Kira, and in a few minutes I have to help Kira practice spelling and finish painting a shelf and then clean out the fish tank before the fish die of oxygen depravation.

I remember the days when we lounged around on the weekends.  I miss that sometimes, but I wouldn't change a thing about our life right now!

Cherries and Mint

I love this outfit.  I bought the mint green blouse at Asos and wasn't sure what to pair with it.  Then, I noticed another blogger paired a similar shirt over a t shirt and I thought, why not?  So, I paired the blouse with an oxford from Banana Republic.  My nail polish is from Essie - Turquoise and Caicos and it matched perfectly!!!

Orange Cream Pop

I love this outfit. I've had it a while, but haven't worn it yet and I received numerous compliments today.

Yesterday, a woman at work commented on how she liked my style.  She said most people just wear clothes and I dress for my personality.  It honestly made my day!

It's been a busy evening. My husband's car battery died in the parking lot of a local sporting goods store tonight and Kira and I had to go rescue him, wait for his car to be jumped and then we followed him to the battery place to make sure he got there ok and got a battery.  It took a chunk of our evening, but all is well now!

Today Was Yellow Day

Bouncing through the department today, I walked by one of staff's cubes and noticed both her and her staff person were wearing yellow.  Apparently, yellow was the uniform in our area today.  We didn't plan it, it just happened.  There was another co-worker in our department who was also wearing yellow, but we didn't see her until after we'd taken this picture or we would have put her in our picture too.  Walking around the company today, there were MANY people wearing yellow.  I think everyone just needed a little bit of sunshine in their lives today!  Thanks to Tammie and Rachel who were good sports about being in the picture for my blog and thanks to Melissa for taking the picture!

I adore my polka dot skirt.  I bought it at Black and White House Market a couple of months ago and this is the first opportunity I had to wear it.  My bracelet is very very very old and was a high school graduation gift.  I'm not going to say how long ago that was because it's kind of scary for me to say out loud!

Green Acres

This morning's goal was to work on my blog smile.  I still think I look cheesy, but it's better than yesterday's!

My outfit is almost entirely from the Limited, except the blouse is from Talbots.  I originally had this paired with a scarf, but I looked like a dork, so I changed it to a necklace.  Then, the necklace looked ridiculous, so I paired it back to my omega necklace.  I think if I wear this combination again, I won't tuck it in, because I look like I have a muffin belly.  I really don't, but you can't tell from the outfit.  I'm back to wearing flats this week because my back is sore again.  I don't like flats with most dressy combinations, but I'm opting for not being in intense pain over wearing pretty shoes this week.  I definitely don't think I'll wear these shoes with a skirt again, but oh my, they were comfortable today.  I tell Kira that "pretty hurts", so let's keep the reason for my comfortable shoes our little secret.

I also snapped a pix of my funky yellow nails.  I'll be sporting these until tomorrow and then I'll change colors.   I was in a meeting this afternoon and I had to highlight one part of my notes and the nail color matched the highlighter perfectly!

Well, it's off to go watch the last hour of Kira's gymnastics practice!  Have a nice evening everyone!
