Halloween!!

+
Happy Halloween!

Ohio, like many states tonight, is having a very soggy and windy Beggar's Night.  Kira made it out for about an hour before her and Dave came home (with a half a pillowcase filled with candy) and about 10 minutes after she was home, it started to pour.  That pretty much cleaned out the rest of the trick or treaters and now we have a truck load of candy left over (on top of the aforementioned pillow case).  Kira's been sucking down the candy for about an hour and when she got into the shower tonight, she was singing at the top of her lungs and having a good old time on her sugar high.

My work had Halloween festivities today too and I was one of the judges of the costume contest. It was a lot of fun, and my little costume was a witches hat.  I wore it until about 3 this afternoon and then it had to come off.

Happy Early Halloween Y'all!!!!

I was putting my lunch box on the kitchen table this morning and I got a good look at the pumpkins Kira put on the table.  I noticed that she made my "likeness" in pumpkin.  The "M" pumpkin is me!  I was so tickled, I took a picture of it.  Ta da!

Closet Switch

I haven't been able to take very much time off from work this year, so I haven't had time to do my semi annual closet clean up.  Twice a year, I like to tear through my closet, flip the seasonal clothes and get rid of stuff there's no way I'm going to wear again. That whole process takes about a day, a day I don't have right now.  The weather took a major turn towards fall this week, so I decided last night that I better hunker down and flip my spring capris with my heavy sweaters or I'll pay for that lack of ambition soon.  It took a couple of hours between last night and today, but I got most of the things flipped.  I still don't have time to go through the rest of the closet, but at least I won't freeze to death!

Mad Hatter

I'm mildly embarrassed to share this with you, but I got the idea for this outfit combination from a Disney Channel show I was watching with Kira.  The show is called Shake It Up and it's about a group of teenagers in Chicago who dance on a weekly dance show.  One of the shows featured an Alice in Wonderland themed dance and one of the main characters had a checkered jacket over black pants with I think a pink hat.   When I found this checkered shirt at Shabby Apple, I snatched it up and created this outfit.  You never know where inspiration will come from!

Swirly Q

I seriously stalked these pants at J Crew.  I refused to pay full price, but they were still over my strike price when they went on sale.  Then, the magical 30% off sale items came across my email and I pounced.  I really really really like these pants.  Depending on the lighting, they look red, black or orange and I think I can match them to a bunch of things.  I came across this combination by accident as I had the gingham shirt out for something else and noticed that the pants went well with the shirt.  An outfit combo was born!

Thistlewood

My brother and I are having an adult sibling Facebook war over just how cold it's going to get this winter.  It's stupid, but we've both been having fun antagonizing the stuffing out of each other.  He's been posting cold weather related predictions all over my wall and I've been firing back at him as fast as he can send it my way.  It's funny how you never really grow out of pestering your siblings.  I'm soooo very much in trouble if it snows at the end of this week like they are predicting because I'll never hear the end of it!

Catching Up Again

Sorry for the lack of postings.  We've been busy this weekend because Kira was in a soccer tournament and played both Saturday and Sunday. They lost today, so we're done with the fall season and onto indoor soccer!

I am a sucker for things with "professor patches". They seem to be in this year and that will be a very very bad thing for my wallet.  I've already purchased another hacking jacket in pink with professor patches  (thanks Banana 40% off) and a sweater from C Wonder.  It's turning ugly quick.

I  also purchased my new wellies for the fall and it took me over a month to find a pair I liked. It's my fault because fall isn't the time to decide you need new rainboots.  I found my new pair at the Sperry store (no surprise there).

Shoes

Something interesting happened to me today literally at our version of the water cooler at work.   I was talking to the project manager of one of the projects I work on and he said my fashion came up in a meeting the other day.  I was a little surprised and asked how that all came about.  He said the person talking was trying to remember my name and said something like, "You know, she has great shoes."  Then someone else in the meeting blurted out my name and the original person talking said "YES, that's her."  I was tickled, but honestly, I wear shoes that are comfortable.  I've had three different foot surgeries and back surgery, so I migrate towards low heels and things that don't compress my feet too badly.  I can't have shoes with heels over three inches and if I go above about 2 and a half inches, I pay for it for days afterwards.  I personally think my shoe choices aren't anywhere close to being as cool as what I see other people wearing, but I appreciate the compliment! I just hope what they were talking about work wise that was related to me was as favorable as their view of my shoe choices!
