In the Red Week Day 3

Three days down, two to go on my red challenge.  I bought this dress on Sunday (yes, this past Sunday) at Talbots because I thought it was pretty.  Of course, red, but I think I may pull this one out more than the reds that sit in the back of my closet.  I think next time I won't wear navy shoes with it, but I was tired this morning thanks to my snoring husband, so I grabbed what was available.

Work has thrown a bit of a wrench into my red week because it's a casual day for a local charity tomorrow and I didn't know that until today.  I hadn't planned that into my wardrobe for the week, but I found a red jacket I also haven't worn in forever, so I'll iron it tonight and will be set.

In the Red Week Day 2

In the fall, everyone seemed to be wearing red blazers and they'd pair it with the cutest things I'd never think to wear red with.  So, I decided I needed a red blazer and bought this at Express.  It sat in my closet until this morning.  Someone should stop me.

Actually, I was extremely pleased with how this outfit turned out. The blouse is from Ann Taylor and the Skirt is Jason Wu for Target.  I bought the earrings Sunday at Talbots and decided to pair them with the daisy skirt last night.  They are a little big, but really really cute!  They have a matching necklace and bracelet, but the necklace is too pricey and the bracelet is glass and I am not good with glass bracelets (I'm too hard on them due to the whole being an accountant thing I do during the day).

So far, I'm glad I'm forcing myself to wear red because I never would have paired these things together before this challenge.

In the Red Week

In the red has a really negative connotation for accountants (and my mastercard statement!).  This week, in the red means wearing something red each day during the work week.  Red isn't one of my favorite colors because it's too in your face bold.  I'm not afraid of color, but red to me is just an angry color.  Plus, I'm super pale, so I think red washes me out.

To actually get some wear out of the red items in my closet, I'm forcing myself to wear at least one piece of red clothing each day during the work week.  I'm going back to polka dots, stripes and pastels this weekend, but bring on the red this week!

I really only need one or two red pieces of clothing in my wardrobe for my daughter's Chinese events, but I own several more than that.  I just never wear them.  I bought this blazer a couple of years ago at Ann Taylor.  I've maybe worn it maybe three times.  The dress was majorally marked down from Banana Republic and I bought it for this year's Chinese New Year Celebration (and then I wore something else).  The bracelet is the coolest thing ever!  It's actually a watch.  I bought it at HSN.

Oh, and maybe only three people noticed I chopped off my hair.  Sometimes my detail oriented co-workers lack attention to detail!

Sparklefina

A lady at church today nicknamed my daughter Sparklefina.  She called her that all through church.  I think it fits because every piece of clothing Kira wore today had some form of sparkle on it, including the silver shoes.  Kira's pink top came from Target, the shoes came from Children's Place and the rest came from the cool store, Justice.

I've decided I may have to invest in smaller jeans after seeing today's photo.  I lost more weight and I think I either need to shrink these things or invest in new.  I'm also not sure how I feel about my new cut, but it's just hair and it'll grow back.

I Chopped My Hair Off

I went in for a color, highlight and "trim" today and decided to chop my hair off.  Dave didn't mind, so I was allowed back into the house.  Sorry about the crummy bathroom pictures, but my photographer was quickly eating dinner before we leave to go see a movie.  We're off to see the Lorax!

Easter Egg Friday

I love this sweater.  I bought it at Lands End on sale and the color goes with a lot of things I already own.   While I felt a bit Easter-like today, the shirt and sweater actually looked really good together and I received several compliments on my outfit.  I'm really glad I bought this!  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

The Birds

When I was in college, my then boyfriend, now husband took a film class where he had to analyze a movie for continuity issues.  He picked Hitchcock's The Birds.  We watched that movie at least 20 times while he was taking that class.  I can't watch that movie anymore (yuck), but when I saw this blouse, I had to have it because it reminded me of that time in our life.

I was a little nervous to wear this to work because the blouse had birds all over it.  Not exactly a conservative shirt.  I paired it with a yellow blouse I bought at Target a while back and noone noticed I was wearing birds.  I found an old bracelet in my stash with birds on it too, and while noone noticed my bracelet had birds on it, I  knew, and that made me happy!
