So, around 6:00 last night, I was talking to Kira in the bathroom and I hear a "SNAP" coming from the living room.  I looked for the flashlight, couldn't find ours, and wound up borrowing Kira's "mooing" cow flashlight (yes, it moos when you turn it on).  I peered into the fireplace and inside one of the traps was our little squirrel friend.  Now we had to make a decision.

I ran Kira over to her soccer camp and came home to wait for Dave.  He decided that the squirrel should also live, so between the two of us, we managed to get the trap out of the fireplace and into the front yard where we released the squirrel back into the neighborhood.  He ran right out of the trap, across the front yard, across the street and up the neighbor's tree.  Freedom at last!!!

The trap guy came and collected his stupid traps today and fixed the chimney so this won't happen again. Lessons have been learned all around!

I love the look of this bracelet, but it's super heavy and hurts my hand when I put my arm down.  I'm now remembering why I don't wear it often!

Hope you had a squirrel free day!

Smiles!

Some Days, I Gotta Look Like An Accountant

Today, I am attempting to attend an insurance accountant luncheon (yes, such things do exist).  I needed to tame my love of color so that I blend in with the others.  I really had to think about what was already ironed that was conservative enough that I'd feel comfortable wearing to this thing.
Sorry about the craft room pictures.  My photographer is currently still asleep and I will once again be arriving to work later than normal today, so I had to resort to this.

Hope everyone has a happy Friday!

Rachel Ate My Cake

I received an interoffice envelope today and when I opened the envelope, I burst out laughing.  Inside was a fork, a napkin and a piece of cake smashed into a ziploc bag.  I laughed my head off.  Our Corporate Accounting Department in Nebraska had an anniversary party for one of our associates and they had cake.  I popped off a comment to one of my staff who works in that office and said that they should share the cake with the Cincinnati Accounting department since we weren't able to come to the party.  So, that's what she did!  We staged a photo in our office this afternoon with one of my other staff pretending to eat the cake, took a picture of it on my iPhone and then emailed it to the folks in Nebraska.  Thanks to Rachel for eating my cake!  I'm feeling the love at work today!

I think overall it was a silly kind of day today.  Here's Kira in her school uniform at Walgreens tonight wearing a donut dog bed on her head. I'm not sure how we survived without camera phones!  And yes, this will be shown to her boyfriends at some point in the future!

It was super hot today and I busted out as light of weight of clothes as I could get away with at work and still look reasonably professional.  The problem with work dressing is it is usually freeezzzzzing in the office and then you fry when you go outside.  I would think in the 21st century office buildings could get it together with the climate control.    After work, Kira and I had to race off to church for her final First Communion practice.  Bad mommy fed her lemonade, an airhead and BBQ potato chips in the car so she wouldn't starve to death before I could get her a real dinner.  We sat in the church parking lot with the air conditioning blazing because did I mention it was stinkin' hot today?
