Windowpane

I am getting an early start on my post today because I have a doctor's appointment this morning and I'm going into work later this morning.  It's weird being in the house when the rest of the family is going through their morning routines.  We live pretty independent lives in the morning and when I'm thrown into their mix, we get into each other's way.  The house is now quiet as all are off to school and work and it's just plain weird.  I'm a creature of habit and it  messes with me when I'm thrown out of my routine. I'm sure I'll be dorked up at work this afternoon too.

Accountant Attire

For some strange reason,  I felt like dressing for my profession today.  There was no special meeting, I didn't have any presentations, and I didn't have to meet with the auditors.  I think I was just in a more subdued mood today.  Don't worry, it won't last.  Polka dots are lined up for tomorrow!

Black and Blue

 

I like to read fashion magazines in the bathtub.  It doesn't work out well for the magazine because inevitably, it either gets dropped in the tub, or water drizzled all over the pictures.  Regardless, it's what I enjoy doing.  So, the other night, I was reading Marie Claire and they had a feature with Tim Gunn and he was discussing if it was ok to wear navy and black together.  He says "yes".  Last night, when I was pulling together today's outfit, I found the shirt/pant combo was missing something and I had this jacket hanging on the bathroom door.  It has black trim, the shirt is navy striped.  I remembered the article and thought, what the heck.  When I was getting ready this morning, I noticed the pants were black, not blue.  They were blue last night and the fairies switched them (that's my story, not that I wasn't wearing my glasses and I can't see!)  I threw my mismatched colors on and walked out of the house.  I was amazed at how well this outfit turned out and I never would have considered doing this before taking more risks since starting this blog.

Spot the Goldfish LIVES!

If you've been following my blog since Saturday, you'll know that we lost Spot the Goldfish.  Not from a figurative "he died" standpoint, but in a literal "the fish wasn't in the aquarium and he was the night before" way.  So after cleaning the filter and moving around the stuff in the aquarium, I finally found him in the arch and he wasn't doing so well.  Last night, I cleaned the aquarium with the intent of removing the body and noticed he was still  alive, but not looking so hot.  So, when I got home from work tonight, I went to check on the fish, once again with the intention of removing the body and Spot was zooming around the aquarium like the past couple of days never happened.  How weird is that?

Ahoy Matey

I love this outfit!  The inspiration for it was an Ann Taylor Loft catalogue, but they paired a much too short for me cobalt skirt with it.  I'm not super conservative for an accountant, but I draw the line at showing parts of my bottom at work, so I substituted the skirt with these pants from Ann Taylor.

I got my stripes in without going the standard navy blue and white route.  It was a good day.  Plus, my back is starting to ease up, so I don't look as hunched over as I have been.  Maybe the week will turn out good!
