Holding On

I'm betting my pants are over 10 years old.  I bought them well before we got Kira, which was eight years ago, and I've held onto them because I just like them.  They've fit, not fit, fit again, not fit and now fit again.  Not sure what that says about me, but I'm keeping them through the next round too.

Yesterday and Today

After the craziness of yesterday, today I'm back to my normal photos.  I decided to try something different today and paired by lifesaver like top with a pale pink jacket.  There's a little bit of pink in the shirt, so I thought it would be a nice contrast.  I like the jacket, but with how pale I am, it tends to wash me out.

 

This was  yesterday's outfit.  In concept, I like it, but in actuality, not so much.   The blouse is a little short to tuck in, but with the seriousness of the jacket, the blouse probably should have been tucked in.  Oh well.

Tiger

Kira and I went to Walgreens after work to pick up a prescription and walking into the store, she stopped me, said, "What are you calling your blog today?" and then proceeded to tell me I should call it Tiger because of the stripes on my skirt.  So, here you go...Tiger.

I was going to pair this with a grass green blazer, but decided against it at the last minute.  My outfit yesterday was kind of pushing the limits of business casual, so I decided to play it safe today.  Keeps them guessing.

I am a sucker for clothing with animals on them.  When I saw this shirt at Loft, I knew it was coming home with me.  Bonus, my jacket from J Crew matched this perfectly and since the jacket is ladylike, it toned down the fact that I was wearing parrots.

My husband is extremely supportive of any crazy thing I get involved with.  He calls me a "dabbler" because I really do want to try a whole bunch of things before I die.   In my late twenties, a co-worker and my mentor passed away from cancer.  All this gentleman wanted to do was to retire, travel and spend time with his wife.  He passed away less than a year from being able to do that and that was my wake up call.  Life is too short to let opportunities pass you by.  Excuses can always be made, time is very short, but you never know if you'll get another tomorrow.  So, I dabble.  I try things out.  I learn what I like, what I don't like.  Some of it sticks and some of it there's no way I'll ever do again. 

Dave gets very involved in anything that I "dabble" in and he's currently very interested in my blog.  Last night, he plopped down next to me on the couch and said that he's been analyzing my blog and he had one point of constructive criticism.  He said all my poses were similar.  He then whipped out his Nexus and went shot by shot to show me what he meant.  I told him in my defense, it's hard to look natural when you feel like a dork taking pictures of yourself.  Plus, it's literally 5:45 in the morning when I take all my shots because it's the last thing I'm doing before I leave for work.  So, today I tried some different looks.  Well...I attempted some different looks.  We'll see if it passes the Dave test.

Vacation Day - Off to Ikea!

I'm not good at relaxation.  I never have been.  So, I took my third day off of the year and instead of lounging about, I went to Ikea to shop for an inexpensive floor runner for our foyer.  We've had this really ugly carpet down across the ceramic tile since Kira was a baby as a landing pad in case she fell.  She's nine now...she'll survive and it's time for something pretty!  It still had to be inexpensive because we have a dog, but I found something really pretty that would work and I'm very pleased that it is now gracing the floor of my foyer.  It looks so much nicer in there now!

What Should We Call It? I Dunno!

Kira pretty much did my blog for me tonight.  She imported the photos, cropped them, pulled them into the blog, and sized them.  When asked what we should call today's post, she said, "I dunno."  She also indicated that one of the pictures made me look fat, so she wouldn't use it in today's posting. She's got my back!

Sea Spray

I didn't post anything yesterday because I was getting my hair done and decided to wear sweats all day so I wouldn't have to worry about any errant blobs of dye staining my clothes.  When I walked out yesterday morning, my husband asked "Are you leaving the house at all today?"  I thought the question was odd because prior to following fashion blogs, my weekend attire was often more suited to the more comfortable side. I guess it shows that I've been dressing a little better lately!

Windowpane

I am getting an early start on my post today because I have a doctor's appointment this morning and I'm going into work later this morning.  It's weird being in the house when the rest of the family is going through their morning routines.  We live pretty independent lives in the morning and when I'm thrown into their mix, we get into each other's way.  The house is now quiet as all are off to school and work and it's just plain weird.  I'm a creature of habit and it  messes with me when I'm thrown out of my routine. I'm sure I'll be dorked up at work this afternoon too.

Epic

 I am planning an epic slumber party for Kira's ninth birthday in a couple of weeks.  It is sooo very out of control right now.  I'm allergic to latex, so we can't decorate with balloons, so I've been ramping up the paper decorations like you wouldn't believe.  Yesterday, I literally made around 12 large paper flowers to hang on the wall, four large paper flowers are going to be attached to dowel rods, placed into styrofoam and then put into flower pots to decorate the foyer and I've got streamers, banners, hanging lanterns, I had a sign made, and more.  Then, we're having a candy bar.  Soooo, I purchased a bunch of clear containers and a ton of candy to put in them.  I made a dum dum sucker flower with about 160 dum dum suckers.  The girls are going to decorate pillowcases, decorate aprons, and then they are having a cupcake decorating party.  We're also having a scavenger hunt/challenge and several other games that I've got planned.  It's been exhausting and I'm nowhere close to being done with all the preparations.  Thankfully, the invitations went in the mail today.  I added a picture of them at the end of this post.   I hand made them because I am insane.

This is all my fault.  I offered up the idea without thinking and Kira jumped on it.  Bad mom. Bad bad mom.
