Holding On

I'm betting my pants are over 10 years old.  I bought them well before we got Kira, which was eight years ago, and I've held onto them because I just like them.  They've fit, not fit, fit again, not fit and now fit again.  Not sure what that says about me, but I'm keeping them through the next round too.

Miami Vice

I love white blazers, but sometimes when I wear them, I feel like I'm in the Miami Vice days of the '80s.  I especially felt this way all day today and I really should have paired these pants with my trusted navy blue blazer.  I think it would have toned it down because the pants are very polka dotty.

Ugly Blazer

This outfit has been in the mix for a while and I haven't gotten around to wearing it.  For some odd reason, I liked this blazer when I bought it, but now, not so much.  It's kind of ugly, a bit matronly, and when I put it on, I realized it's probably a lot too big and the whole outfit isn't very flattering.  I don't have time to change before church, so this is what I will be wearing.  Not a terribly big deal since I'll be changing into comfy grocery store shopping clothes after church.

Some Grandma's Pearls

One of my staff asked me today what was up with my conservative attire this week.  They went on to say that it wasn't that I don't dress professionally, but I was just dressing subdued.  I had to fess up that I've had this outfit in the queue for about nine months and need to clean out the space where it was residing to store other outfit combinations and decided I better actually wear this outfit.   Then I had to explain what my queue is.

Early in my accounting career,  I periodically would work 12-14 hours days especially during closings.  To save time during the week, I started coming up with a bunch of outfit ideas over the weekend and then I'd get them steamed and ready to go.  Since we adopted Kira, I don't have the inclination to put in so many hours at work anymore, but I still continue the practice of getting my outfits together over the weekend.  The problem is, I always plan more outfits than work days in case I'm not feeling a particular outfit combination during the actual work week. Over time, I wind up with this backlog of outfits that don't get worn because I've come up with other outfits that I like better and I'm too lazy to stop and put the clothing components back into my closet for the outfit combinations I've not gotten around to wearing.  This week, I noticed I was down to only two more outfits on the back of my closet door and I really want to use the space for new outfit combos I have floating around in my head.  Thus, my conservative attire for today.

White After Labor Day

Don't tell on me...I'm wearing white after labor day.  I'm shameless!  Back in the day, I would have been breaking a variety of fashion rules, but I'm really glad that anything goes now. 

I'll be honest, the top half of my outfit was inspired by another blogger, but I mixed it up a little differently.  I never think to drag out my whites in the middle of winter, but it kind of helped having something bright on today because it's really dismal out. I'm also not sure what's going on with my hair today.  I'll blame the weather for that too!!!

Thank You eBay

 I received so many compliments on my blouse today, and you know what?  I bought it on eBay.  Yes, I told everyone who complimented me on my steal.  I'm not ashamed to thrift because you can find some amazing stuff that's new to almost like new for very little money.

The Birds Flew North Too Soon

When I pick out my outfits the night before work, I go with how I am feeling at the time and last night I was freezing.  The temperature here has drastically dropped this week and it feels more like fall than spring.  So, I bought this sweater on clearance at J Crew and it was just the perfect cozy thing to wear on a crisp day.  Tomorrow, it's supposed to be 60, so maybe spring is on its way back!
