Today, the dog decided to join my blog.  Welcome Misha.

I borrowed this entire outfit idea from Banana Republic.  I slapped my purse down in the store, grabbed my phone, and took a snapshot. Then I bought the sweater.  Dave was with me and I think he now knows I'm nuts.

Miami Vice

I love white blazers, but sometimes when I wear them, I feel like I'm in the Miami Vice days of the '80s.  I especially felt this way all day today and I really should have paired these pants with my trusted navy blue blazer.  I think it would have toned it down because the pants are very polka dotty.

3:30

3:30 a.m. is the time the dog decided to get stuck in the corner this morning.  First, she clacked her little toes all over the bathroom tile, "click, click, click", then, she moseyed back into the bedroom and walked to the corner where I keep some wrapping paper materials.  Next, I hear her shuffling through tissue paper.  At this point, I am up and pretty ticked.  I grabbed my book light and walked over to see what the issue was and she was stuck.  Not hurt stuck, just stuck stuck, like can't figure out that all she had to do was back up kind of stuck.  Dave had the carpet cleaner in our bedroom in my wrapping corner and the dog couldn't figure out that all she had to do was BACK UP.   After getting her situated, I was up up up up.  I was ok until late this afternoon and then I hit a wall.  I'm kind of pooped right now.  I am also kind of mad at the dog.

Flute Choir

Even though I spend my days being a bean counter, in my spare time, I play the flute and have played since I was nine.   Last Saturday, when I was at Kira's guitar lesson, I went downstairs to the music store to evaluate purchasing a new flute.  When I was testing out the flutes, the saleslady asked me if I was interested in joining a flute choir.  I thought about it for a little bit and thought, "Why not?"  So tonight was the first practice.  I was really nervous because I can be a little shy in new situations, but I had a blast!  It's so much fun playing good music with people who can play and have a passion for the same thing you do!

Golf Anyone?

I honestly look like I'm going golfing today.  Don't get me wrong, I would repeat this outfit in a heartbeat, and I loved the sweater so much, I bought it in both colors J Crew had.  It took me until lunch today to realize that I perfectly matched my belt with my necklace.  That was a complete accident!!!

Happy Birthday Baby

 

Today is my baby girl's ninth birthday.  I can't believe how big she's getting!  The festiveness you see in the background is for her birthday.  I think I'm done decorating for the party, but tonight I have to make a lot of icing for the cupcakes the girls are going to decorate at her party on Sunday.

Geometric

The Christmas tree is FINALLY down, so I tested out today's photos in our family room to see if the lighting is a little better.  So far, I'm pleased, but my backgrounds will be a little goofy because we truly live in our family room.  Kira's practice beam is behind me as are the numerous mats to keep her from killing herself.  She's a hula hoop wizard, so we've got an overabundance of hula hoops in the house as well.  What you see behind me isn't even all of them. We have more in the garage! I'd love to take the shots outside, but I'm taking my photos around 5:45 a.m. each morning and it's dark out there.  And cold.....so inside I stay.

I am really pleased with how today's outfit turned out.  I bought the skirt on sale back in November when Dave and Kira took me shopping for my birthday and sort of forgot I owned it.  Even though the skirt has a crazy pattern on it, the colors incorporate both navy and black, so it wound up being a reasonably conservative outfit.  I'm trying to incorporate more belts into my world to snazz up my outfits, but it isn't something that comes naturally to me.  Plus, I sort of have an hourglass shape, so to fit around my hips, my belts wind up being a lot larger than my waist, which makes it tricky to figure out what to do with belts that I actually purchased to wear with pants.  I tucked this one in to rope in the tail, but I found myself constantly tucking it in all day. I guess if this is the worst problem I have in life, I can consider myself blessed!!

 I was trying out a nonchalant pose.  I don't think I can pull it off.  I look like a dork.  Maybe I'll try pensive tomorrow!

Cackling Hens



 

I love my french hens shirt from J Crew.  Because it's navy, it goes with everything and it's just a happy little shirt.   It normally takes me a while to repeat a particular piece of clothing, but I've already worn this shirt three times since obtaining it last fall.  That may not seem like a lot, but for me, it's record breaking!

 

I'm really having issues with the lighting on my new camera.  I cannot wait until we get the Christmas tree down this weekend to move my shots into the family room.  I'm hoping the lighting will be better in there.  The Christmas tree is currently occupying the spot I want to try out.    The blizzard the day after Christmas killed all chances of a  quick tear down of the decorations because we can't get to the storage barn in the backyard where the decorations live.  It's been raining and a little warmer so far this week, so I think the stuff may melt by this weekend.  Plus, it's supposed to be in the low 60's in southwestern Ohio tomorrow and Saturday, so that should really take care of the snow!  The joke is if you hate the weather, just wait a minute cause it'll change!  That's Ohio!!!!

On the Mend

Everyone made it through the day where they were supposed to be today.  I went to work, fever and ache free, Kira went to school, fever and ache free and Dave (knock on wood) still hasn't contracted the flu. 

I selected my outfit today for warmth.  I've been so cold over the past couple of days, so I decided to layer up my outfit to head off any possible chill.  I also wrapped myself a chunk of today in a black pashmina because I came to the conclusion that I can take that little blanket to meetings and people don't realize I'm really using the thing as a blanket.  But honestly, who are we kidding?  I've brought a blanket to meetings before.  The thing has polka dots on it too...big ones.  As I've gotten older, I've started caring less about what other people think and more about what I think in terms of stuff like that.  I wish I learned that 20 years ago because it would have made some things much much easier!



The black blur at the bottom of the photo is the dog.  She is very interested in anything I do early in the morning.

Only the Best

My daughter loves to drink from our crystal wine glasses.  When she's served her drinks in them (orange juice and fizzy orange drink...she is eight), she gets excited and exclaims "Ohhh, fancy!" Tonight, she drank orange juice in them with a straw.  It struck me as extremely funny that my daughter is trying to be so very grown up, but the straw just shows she's still a little kid! 

I probably shouldn't allow this...the glasss were a wedding gift, but we should get some use out of the things and she really enjoys it.

 It's no stress week at work this week (it isn't working) and today's event was a casual day.  That's why I'm wearing jeans in the middle of the week.  We get free chair massages tomorrow and I think there's snacks involved at some point this week!

 No glasses....I can't see you!!  I also wiped off the lipstick right after snapping the shots.  It interferes with the taste of my morning Diet Coke.

Vacation is Over

 Back to work today.  Yippee.  I decided to dress up in honor of going back and here's the result. 

 I received a ton of compliments on my little eyeglass pin today.  I love this pin, but forgot I owned it!
