Monkey Butt
While practicing Kira's spelling words tonight, Kira informs me that she and Dave were practicing how to spell monkey butt last night. There is a dance associated with this as well. Yes, a dance. They told me I would never understand. I fear they are probably correct.
I stole my outfit idea from J Crew today. My bracelet is also from J Crew and I discovered after it arrived that the j ring wasn't wide enough to fit around the clasp. So, instead of sending it back and paying the shipping, I bolt cut off the j ring, and put a lobster claw clasp on it with a jump ring. Problem solved. I am annoyed that I had to do that, but since it's fixed, I guess I'll let it go.

Ocean Coral
Kira named my blog title today and then we Googled coral to make sure it can actually be blue. It can.
Green is my favorite color and I'm loving the resurgence of the color this Spring. The problem is, I have no off button, so I keep buying mint green things. In my defense, I bought this sweater last year and it's mint with blue colorblocked trim.

Happy Valentine's Day!
We had a wear red day to work casual day today. Normally, I don't like clothing related conformity
events, but today I decided to participate. It was kind of fun walking around work today seeing everyone in red and I really think they should have gathered us all up and taken a big group picture!
Red isn't my favorite color to wear since I'm vampire pale, but this jacket from J Crew is awesome. The color is more of an orangey red, the fit is great, the cut is up to date and it matches a ton of stuff in my closet. I bought the exact same blazer in hot pink and cobalt because I absolutely love it. I'm looking forward to pairing more colorful tops under this blue lace shirt. I can't wait to try it with something green!

Skinny Jeans
Today's outfit was inspired by a Boden USA catalogue. In the catalogue, it was a yellow sweater and the polka dot shirt, but they paired it with a striped skirt. I just changed it up a little.

Copy Cat
While taking these pictures this morning, I realized that I have worn almost exactly this same combination recently. Skirt, blouse and sweater are all different, but conceptually it's the same idea. I saw this look in a Banana Republic add and really liked it. I then tried to piece it together from stuff I already owned since the now failed ban on internet shopping went into place. When I walked into Banana a couple of weeks ago, they were having a 30% off sale and the skirt and blouse came home with me. I like the skirt, but it's maybe just a tad too big and it poofs in weird places. Not horrible, but it does have a pronounced poof. The online reviews warned me of the poofing, but I didn't listen. The color khaki tends to wash me out since I have a death warmed over complexion, but the orange offset takes away from the khaki, so I think I can get away with it. If I wear khaki by itself, I get confused for a vampire and noone wants that!
Here's the original look. Almost dead on.

Tipsy
I have a polka dot and stripe fixation, but I also am very enamored with the color navy blue. And when you add anything "tipped" to my navy, I am just giddy. Truly truly giddy.
I bought this blazer at Banana Republic last winter and I love it. It goes with lots of stuff in my closet and is cozy to wear all day. That came in handy today because we didn't have much heat until this afternoon. When the heat finally kicked in, it was blazing hot in the office. There's no happy in between, so I'm going to have to continue to layer.

Geometric
The Christmas tree is FINALLY down, so I tested out today's photos in our family room to see if the lighting is a little better. So far, I'm pleased, but my backgrounds will be a little goofy because we truly live in our family room. Kira's practice beam is behind me as are the numerous mats to keep her from killing herself. She's a hula hoop wizard, so we've got an overabundance of hula hoops in the house as well. What you see behind me isn't even all of them. We have more in the garage! I'd love to take the shots outside, but I'm taking my photos around 5:45 a.m. each morning and it's dark out there. And cold.....so inside I stay.
I am really pleased with how today's outfit turned out. I bought the skirt on sale back in November when Dave and Kira took me shopping for my birthday and sort of forgot I owned it. Even though the skirt has a crazy pattern on it, the colors incorporate both navy and black, so it wound up being a reasonably conservative outfit. I'm trying to incorporate more belts into my world to snazz up my outfits, but it isn't something that comes naturally to me. Plus, I sort of have an hourglass shape, so to fit around my hips, my belts wind up being a lot larger than my waist, which makes it tricky to figure out what to do with belts that I actually purchased to wear with pants. I tucked this one in to rope in the tail, but I found myself constantly tucking it in all day. I guess if this is the worst problem I have in life, I can consider myself blessed!!
I was trying out a nonchalant pose. I don't think I can pull it off. I look like a dork. Maybe I'll try pensive tomorrow!
Kira helped me test out the new picture spot last night! Her outfit is from Children's Place (skirt) and Justice (shirt).
