Lotsa Dots

 

I stalked this jacket at J Crew because I really didn't need another polka dot jacket, but I didn't have one in white.  It went on sale and then 30% off the sale and I knew this thing was coming home with me.  You can't tell from the pictures, but the pants have teeny tiny blue polka dots.  I couldn't help but pair the two together today.  Probably not the most "accountant-like" outfit, but the numbers respond better when the number keeper feels festive!

Miami Vice

I love white blazers, but sometimes when I wear them, I feel like I'm in the Miami Vice days of the '80s.  I especially felt this way all day today and I really should have paired these pants with my trusted navy blue blazer.  I think it would have toned it down because the pants are very polka dotty.

Dot Variations

My family helped me choose my blog title tonight.  Dave's contributions:  "Losing my head over this crazy blazer," and "They took my head, but they can't take my style."  Kira gave up because she's eating potato chips.

This look is new for me.  The skirt has a diamond and dot pattern and when the sweater arrived, I noticed that the patterns were similar.  I decided to try the two together and was pleased with the results.  I think because the patterns are complementary, they don't overpower each other.

Fave Blazer

I have to get as many wears in of my cobalt blue blazer before Spring actually sprungs.  I love this thing...it matches everything!

The Principal's Office

On the way home from work/school today, Kira announced that she got called down to the Principal's Office today.  I exclaimed "What did you do???"  And Kira proceeded to tell me that she didn't do anything, the Principal wanted to personally thank her for a job well done volunteering at school this past Sunday.  I asked if she was scared, and she said "YES! I was about to pee my pants!"

It's 64 degrees in southwestern Ohio today, which is nice, but kind of wrong for January.  I busted out some new capris that I purchased from Banana Republic with a birthday gift card.  I don't own many patterned pants, and this one is subtle with a little fleur de lis all over it.  I gotta tell you, they weren't the most comfortable pants to wear all day.  The fabric was stiff and the waist band was constricting, even though the pants fit fine.  It'll be a while before I wear them again because it's supposed to get cold again on Thursday.  Back to winter!

Circling the Wagons

I am a soccer mom. So much so that I selected today's outfit specifically because I knew I'd be sitting at the soccer field while Kira practiced with her team after work.  It's hot out and I needed something that I could wear to work and then be ok sitting in a field and it also had to be was washable since it's hot.

I was a little nervous about wearing this jacket to work because it really is loud.  I was pleasantly surprised with the number of compliments I received.  I guess I didn't look like a clown after all!

If It Looks Like a Duck....

Today's blog title is courtesy of my husband.  This outfit reminds me of something, but I can't think of what it is.  I keep leaning towards something you'd see in an elementary school classroom.  Kira thinks I look like the colors in a butterfly.  So I asked them to chime in on what they thought, and we landed with the duck comment.  I have to admit, the jacket is pretty bright. I just figured out what my outfit reminds me of!!!!! PADDINGTON BEAR!  Oh my, that's probably NOT a good thing!

Two of my staff are out on maternity leave right now and one of my staff took another position outside of Accounting last month.  It's pretty quiet around work right now, but one of my "mommies" is coming back to work on Monday and I am thrilled!  We're throwing a little welcome back party for her on Monday and we've been slowly decorating her cube for her comeback.  We took these pictures in my office today to pin up in her cube (we took them in my office with the door shut so noone knows how big of dorks we are!).  One of my other staff is on vacation this week, so we included her via a cariacture she has up in her cube (she' going to kill me when she gets back next week!)  We are super busy at work, but sometimes you have to take a little time to try to make other peoples' days brighter.
