It Was Ironed

I ran into a friend of mine at Kira's soccer game this morning and she very nicely complimented what I was wearing and then apologized for what she was wearing.  I felt kind of bad because I don't dress to make other people feel bad.  I honestly just like clothes.  My friend looked extremely comfortable and warm and I envied what she was wearing because of that.  Today's outfit was literally thrown together at the last minute and consists of things that didn't look bad enough to have to iron because I had to go get my car's oil changed this morning and then rush off to her soccer game and I didn't have time to deal with it. 

Dave came into the room while I was taking my photos and he bum rushed the camera.  He'd kill me if he knew I shared this with you, but if you bum rush my camera, you get what you deserve!

Thumbing My Nose At Winter

 

I am done with winter.... done done done.  Even though my outfit was wool today, I decided to go for springy colors.  I was told I looked like an Easter egg today and I had people comment that they were going to hang out in my office today just to get a touch of Spring.  It's snowing right now and I think we're all done with this stuff.

 

I'm also beat tonight.  The dog woke up screaming/crying at 3 this morning and I jolted out of bed to see what the problem was.  She was howling in pain and holding her paw up.  I checked it out and couldn't see anything wrong and she started to walk gingerly on it and it seemed ok.  She then went to the corner and looked at me like "Leave my stinkin' paw alone".  I tried to go back to bed, but wound up cat napping until it was time to get up. Then, after I gave the dog her morning milkbone, I walked out of the kitchen to fetch something and when I came back, she was laying down in front of the stove and refused to get up.  She's been having traction problems on the tile and I think she was just done.  I can't lift her, so I got a towel, laid it out on the floor and gently lifted up limb by limb onto the towel until I had most of her on the towel, then I slid her to the carpet, gave her a boost and off she went.  She's a fifteen year old border collie and honestly, it's just old age.  I moved the milkbones into the family room so she can stay off the tile and if she has a repeat episode with her paw tonight, she's off to the vet tomorrow. She seems fine now, so we'll see how it goes.

Lilac is a Winter Color in My World

 

I bought these pants on sale at J Crew and believe it or not, they are wool.  I love bright colors in winter because it makes me feel better when it's dreary outside.  I bought similar pants from the Gap in lilac khaki and they should be here by the end of the week, so I'll be set with my lilac for Spring too.

 

By the way, I only made it 24 days with my ban on internet shopping.  It's over, but I found that I'm still not online shopping as much, which is good since I'm seriously out of space in the closet!

Cackling Hens



 

I love my french hens shirt from J Crew.  Because it's navy, it goes with everything and it's just a happy little shirt.   It normally takes me a while to repeat a particular piece of clothing, but I've already worn this shirt three times since obtaining it last fall.  That may not seem like a lot, but for me, it's record breaking!

 

I'm really having issues with the lighting on my new camera.  I cannot wait until we get the Christmas tree down this weekend to move my shots into the family room.  I'm hoping the lighting will be better in there.  The Christmas tree is currently occupying the spot I want to try out.    The blizzard the day after Christmas killed all chances of a  quick tear down of the decorations because we can't get to the storage barn in the backyard where the decorations live.  It's been raining and a little warmer so far this week, so I think the stuff may melt by this weekend.  Plus, it's supposed to be in the low 60's in southwestern Ohio tomorrow and Saturday, so that should really take care of the snow!  The joke is if you hate the weather, just wait a minute cause it'll change!  That's Ohio!!!!

Elivs and My Blogaversary

 



Today is the one year anniversary of my blog! I've really enjoyed evolving my sense of style over the past year and I appreciate your viewership! 

 

Did you also know that today is Elvis' birthday?  I didn't know either until one of my co-workers told me at the copier.  Then in an unrelated event, Dave emailed me to let me know they are having a show in downtown Cincinnati next month featuring Elvis impersonators.  I really really enjoy Elvis impersonators.

 

My outfit today in my opinion, was professional, yet totally fun.  I bought this dress on eBay last summer for a steal and haven't gotten around to wearing it because honestly, I forgot I owned it.  Since I've put a personal ban on shopping for a while, I've been going back through what I already own to piece new outfits together and came across the dress.  I felt good all day!

New Years Eve

I've been in a bit of a fashion funk since last week.  I think it's all activity leading up Christmas, being sick and then being off work.  I lack structure and I need that.  I'm also going to attempt to give up unnecessary shopping for the next few months to see if I can do it and while it's necessary, that has me a little blue too.   I've literally run out of space in my closet and I need to start wearing what's in there before bringing more into the collection, thus leading up to the self imposed shopping ban.

Today's outfit is something colorful since it's dismal outside and lots of layers because we're going over to my brother's for New Year's Eve tonight and his house is always cold. The sweater is really really really old.  I've always liked it and it's made it through several closet purges because I just can't seem to bring myself to give it away.  I decided that if I didn't wear it soon, there's really no point in keeping it.  After looking at today's photos, I'm glad I kept it.

Desparate For A Haircut

 I really need a haircut.  I'm not sure when this is going to happen because I normally only have time to do that on a weekend and I'm booked on Saturday.  Oh well, maybe next weekend.

I loved my outfit today, but honestly, I froze all day.  Work just never seems to be able to regulate the temperature.  It's supposed to be in the low 60's tomorrow, so I'm sure we'll all be cold.  It's so sad when you have to go outside to warm up.

The Dog is Snapping at Me!

 The dog has been following me around the house for the past 5 minutes snapping at me.  I was packing my lunch for tomorrow and my lunchbox just happened to be near the Milkbones.  She internalized that I was in the kitchen with the sole purpose of providing her a Milkbone.  When I left the kitchen to head into the bedroom to lay my clothes out for work, she followed me.  All of a sudden, I hear "snap snap" by my hand, huffing from the dog and more "snap snap".  That dog had the audacity to try to "herd" me back into the kitchen to procure her a Milkbone.  Save your border collie skills for the sheep Misha.  Save it for the sheep.

It's our United Way campaign this week at work, so we were able to donate money to wear jeans all week.  Whoo hoo!

Diet Coke Attack

 

I was attacked by my bottle of Diet Coke today.  There I was, innocently working on a spreadsheet, getting ready to go to a meeting and I took a swig of my Diet Coke.  I put the bottle down, and poof!  Out came a stream of pop all across the front of my jacket and all down the sleeve of my jacket.  Four minutes before I had to be in a meeting, a meeting I was running.  Grrrrrrrr.  So I ran to the bathroom and wiped off as much as I could and then took the jacket off.  Now I have to get it dry cleaned.  AND it was a waste of good Diet Coke.   Bummer.

And yet another outfit my cup matches.  Gotta love the cup!

Mean People

 I'm not sure why people have to be so mean.  Especially at work.  Are their lives so miserable that they need to spread that to others?  I wonder.  What made my day all better were the fantastic hugs that I got from the best hugger in the world.  Take that mean people!

The Time To Realize Your Skirt is Really Short....

 Is not when you are walking out to the garage to get into your car and drive to work.  I usually don't wear this short of skirts, but when I bought it, I didn't realize it was this short.  It passed the Catholic school girl test and it wasn't showing anything inappropriate, it just was a bit too short.  It highlights my chicken legs.

My Kindle Died - Really Really Died

 My Kindle Touch died this weekend with no hope of recovery.  I was very upset by this because it was a birthday present from Dave last November, so it isn't really old enough to bite the dust, but it did.  I spent 40 minutes online with the support folks yesterday and they couldn't figure out why it wasn't working.  So, they wonderful people at Amazon are replacing my Kindle...FOR FREE!  I was shocked!  All I had to do was ship the broken one back to them via UPS and they even paid for that!  They now have a customer for life and I can't wait for my replacement to arrive because I use my Kindle all the time.  Thankfully, my older version still works because I was in the middle of a book when it decided to die. 

 I wore capris today because Kira had an outdoor soccer game after work and I didn't have time to change before the game. These are more of a denim colored trouser capri than actual denim. However, I sometimes get odd looks at work because if you just look quickly, they look like denim.  I'm not sure I'll wear this combination again.  Everything was just a tad too big on me (I know..whine...whine..whine).

It's Friday

It is Friday and I am glad.  My niece is spending the weekend with us, so we should be having some epic fun over the next two days.

I'm pleased with how this outfit turned out, but when I was taking off the necklace this evening, I broke the clasp.  I think I can fix it if I buy another clasp.  We shall see how my DIY works out!
