It Was Ironed

I ran into a friend of mine at Kira's soccer game this morning and she very nicely complimented what I was wearing and then apologized for what she was wearing.  I felt kind of bad because I don't dress to make other people feel bad.  I honestly just like clothes.  My friend looked extremely comfortable and warm and I envied what she was wearing because of that.  Today's outfit was literally thrown together at the last minute and consists of things that didn't look bad enough to have to iron because I had to go get my car's oil changed this morning and then rush off to her soccer game and I didn't have time to deal with it.

Dave came into the room while I was taking my photos and he bum rushed the camera.  He'd kill me if he knew I shared this with you, but if you bum rush my camera, you get what you deserve!

Elivs and My Blogaversary

Today is the one year anniversary of my blog! I've really enjoyed evolving my sense of style over the past year and I appreciate your viewership!

Did you also know that today is Elvis' birthday?  I didn't know either until one of my co-workers told me at the copier.  Then in an unrelated event, Dave emailed me to let me know they are having a show in downtown Cincinnati next month featuring Elvis impersonators.  I really really enjoy Elvis impersonators.

My outfit today in my opinion, was professional, yet totally fun.  I bought this dress on eBay last summer for a steal and haven't gotten around to wearing it because honestly, I forgot I owned it.  Since I've put a personal ban on shopping for a while, I've been going back through what I already own to piece new outfits together and came across the dress.  I felt good all day!

Thanks to all of you for supporting me over the past year!

Vacation is Over

Back to work today.  Yippee.  I decided to dress up in honor of going back and here's the result.
I received a ton of compliments on my little eyeglass pin today.  I love this pin, but forgot I owned it!

Cute, but painful bow shoes!

Black Friday

In honor of black Friday and the fact that there is no way I'm venturing out shopping until very much later today, I decided to post a pix without my glasses AND to put on some lipstick.  Fancy...I know.  Kira is standing here telling  me I should have worn black to go with my blog title.  Oh well, missed opportunities.

I stopped wearing lipstick my senior year in high school when my then boyfriend, now husband, refused to kiss me in between classes if I was wearing lipstick.  So, bye bye lipstick.

I paused to take a peek at the pictures and noticed I was squinting.  There's a reason I wear glasses!!!

Lifesaver Variety Pack, Part 2

Technically, this skirt was with the late summer line from Talbots, but I think it looks a little fall like too.  I own the shirt that matches this skirt, and it all reminds me of a pack of lifesavers.  I love it, though!  I forgot I owned it until this weekend and thought, why not?

Currently, we have a homework battle going on in our house.  Kira has a ridiculous amount of work to get done tonight.  I'm not opposed to homework, but two hours a night for an 8 year old is way too much and by this point in the evening, she starts to feel tired and it goes downhill.  It would be one thing if we didn't work, but we do and it's a strain on the whole family.  Dave is much more patient than I am, so he's handling it right now.

Polka Dot Day and Cute School Uniforms

After getting ready this morning, I thought, "have I gone over the top?"  Then, I shook it off and thought, nah, nowhere close to over the top.  However, I am bespeckled with polka dots today.  I actually received a lot of compliments on my outfit and bonus...it was comfortable!

How do you make a Catholic school uniform look just plain adorable??? Ask my lovely daughter Kira.  When I picked her up at daycare tonight, she looked so stinking cute, we had to take a picture when we got home.
She's been rockin' this bow combination all week.  It's taken seven years to get the child to wear bows and when I finally gave up, she embraced the bow.
She is my daughter.  Check out her super snazzy shoes!

Here I am after a long day at work.  It's trash day today, so sorry about the neighbor's trash bins in the background!

Have a super weekend!

Polka Dot Day Was Snatched Away

Kira told me to name today's blog Polk Dot Day.  Then, while I was taking shots, she came in and tried to snatch my iPhone away.  Stuff like this happens a lot in my world.

Kira has her last Y soccer game today and then tomorrow she has her first intermural soccer game with school.  She also has competitive gymnastics practice tomorrow, which we'll be leaving early to get to the game.  Then soccer practice Tuesday, gymnastics Wednesday, soccer Thursday, and open gym Saturday.  Yeah, this is our life and I love every minute of it!

Happy Sunday!

Sunday Drama

Kira used her own money Friday to buy a Littlest Pet Shop playset.  Her dad and I were against this acquisition because she really doesn't play with toys, but since she was using her own money, I thought it would teach her a lesson.  Today, while I was getting ready, I got the MOOOOMMMMM plea to come help her.  She had intentionally dropped bobby pins into the toy and couldn't figure out how to get them out.  Sigh.  We've found that craft chenile sticks can help extract a variety of unusual things and we used that to get the bobby pins out. Done and done!

Today's outfit was a bit tricky.  I originally paired the shirt with my neon yellow J Crew pants, but the shirt is short and the pants are short, so it looked really dorky.  What to do, what to do??? So, I grabbed some denim capris because they were ironed, grabbed a jacket I already ironed for work this week, found a yellow belt, some big jewelry and voila!  I was more than pleased with how this turned out because if you would have seen how it started, it's come a long way.

The dog wants to be in the blog today.  I actually think she's waiting for a milkbone.
Kira likes the jewelry shots.  The dog is an attention hog.
Kira wanted you to see the circles.

Happy Sunday and thanks for reading!

Denim Daze

I bought these pants when I was home recuperating from surgery and sulking over how nothing fit because of the swelling.  I was a little nervous when they came because they are soooo very yellow.  It took almost three months before I was able to wear these (swelling) and I'm getting my mileage out of them.  They are extremely festive.  I remember the neon craze of the '80's quite well and I'm enjoying the more toned down version this go round.

The  polka dot shoes are just fun to wear.  The little bow on them makes them extra special.  A friend pointed out that the dots in my shoe matched my bracelet.  I honestly didn't do that on purpose!
