Mixed Media

Everyone is a critic.  My family doesn't like that I take my blog shots in front of Kira's gym equipment.  This evening, they were providing constructive criticism as to where else in this house I should take my morning shots. Of course, there aren't any offers by the others to get up and help me move everything around to actually shoot the shots elsewhere, so the gym backdrop stays for now.

I drew inspiration for today's outfit from J Crew's website. They paired a minty gingham shirt with a floral skirt. I love their skirt, but I don't love the price, so I copied the outfit using stuff I already owned.  I know matching isn't supposed to be in fashion, but I decided a few days ago that I like to match and darn it, I'm going to match stuff. For me, fashion is about making myself happy in my outfit choices and I think I carry myself more confidently when I feel good about what I wear.  I truly felt good all day in this outfit.  Happy clothes make a happy me!

My Grandma's Couch

 My shirt reminds me of my grandma's couch, except her couch was brown with gold foil instead of green.  Her couch also had a plastic slip cover on it and we weren't allowed sitting on it.  The blazer is neon neon neon  yellow and I think the two paired together scream Spring!  I didn't notice it until I got to work, but I buttoned my top buttons wrong this morning.  I wish the mirror would tell you these things before it lets you go out in public.  Oh well!

Sleep Running

About 1 a.m. this morning, Dave and I were awakened to the sound of claws running across the wall.  I jumped out of bed, turned the light on and ran to check on Misha.  She has epilepsy and has been known to have grand mal epileptic seizures in the middle of the night.  With her age (she's 15), a seizure could kill her, so I was really frightened until I saw what was going on.  Misha was sleep running, and she was doing a pretty fast sleep run at that.  I gently walked away, shut off the lights and climbed back into bed.   She was probably dreaming of chasing bunnies, which is one of her favorite things to do!

I'm finally starting to feel better after four days.  I am starving, which I'm taking as a good sign, but I don't want to push it.  Kira's at the gym at an all day gymnastic's camp, so I think I'm going to kick back and read a book.  Hope you have a great Friday too!

Saturday

 It's not even noon and I'm already tired today.  I had trouble falling asleep and then Sir Snores-a-lot started in about 3:30 this morning.  I moved to the couch, but woke up at 6:30 and then just stayed awake.  Kira's being particularly snarky today too, so I'm sure we'll all be at each other's throats in a couple of hours.  Dave's taking the brunt of it now and I'm hiding.  Not mature, but so very true.

Again, most interesting game in the hall AND I'm not sure what she found so interesting on my leg.

I Recognize You Cause of Your Shoes

 I was in the bathroom at lunch today and when I went to the sink to wash my hands, a lady from HR was in there and said "I knew that was you.  I knew you had to be the person wearing those shoes!"  I asked, is that a good thing?  And she started laughing and said Yes!  I also showed up at the soccer field wearing this outfit.  I took a lot of ribbing about being the most over dressed person at the fields.  What can I say?  I didn't want to miss the start of the game and didn't have time to change.  By the way, Kira's school kicked St. Peter's butt!  Go Eagles!

Thank You eBay

 I received so many compliments on my blouse today, and you know what?  I bought it on eBay.  Yes, I told everyone who complimented me on my steal.  I'm not ashamed to thrift because you can find some amazing stuff that's new to almost like new for very little money.
