Bouncing through Ann Taylor last weekend, 30% off coupon and $15 off birthday coupon in hand, I walked past this blouse. The pleats called to me from the hanger..."you must buy me" "you must buy me" they said. So, what does a girl do? I bought it and now both me and the blouse are happy campers!

Polka Dots Run Amuck
I have to be honest, I didn't come up with this outfit idea on my own, but when I saw it, I knew I had to try it out. I test drive my funkier outfits at church just in case they wind up being over the top. Noone gave me any weird looks today, so I think I pulled it off. I changed out of the pants when we got home and put on white denim capris, but kept the jacket and shirt on. I have boring stuff to do today and denim fit more into what I need to work on.

Minnie Mouse
I tend to stay away from red polka dots due to the whole Minnie Mouse effect. However, when I was in Talbots last month, the store manager knows my tastes really well and brought out this skirt for me to try before it hit the floor. Must have! It took me a while to wear it because I kind of forgot about it, but I really do like it!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Monday!

The Blues
Today was a casual day for charity and I busted out the blues for today. I like each piece individually, but I'm not so sure I like them together. At least it was comfortable!

Pastel Rainbow
I am failing at my one in one out policy for my closet. I bought this dress for a steal at Ann Taylor, but there was nothing I was willing to part with in the dress section of the closet. Oh well.

Fashion is Personal
Last night, after Kira went to bed, I was thinking of something to wear on Thursday because we have an extra casual day this week. Dave was sitting next to me and he says "Wait, wait, I know what you should wear. Let me show you." And he proceeds to draw the picture above. Great fashion sense, huh?

Koi
Kira was reading about goldfish over the weekend and surprisingly, then can live for up to 20 years and the oldest documented goldfish was 40 years old. We have three goldfish currently; Brittany II, Blackie, and Spot. So far, we've had Spot and Blackie for quite some time and Brittany II replaced Brittany the First who passed away several months ago. The "Goldfish Project" has been going on since Kira started first grade because she was upset when we took the kindergarten class turtle back to school after babysitting it all summer before she started first grade. I didn't promise her the goldfish - Dave did, but the goldfish have become my responsibility and don't tell Dave and Kira, but I kind of like them.
So, in honor of my fish friends and their longevity, I busted out my koi pin this morning. I have an impressive number of vintage as well as newer brooches and I go through phases when I want to wear them. I'm really rockin' the zoo today because I busted out my giraffe shoes as well.

Not Playing Well In the Same Sandbox Today
We are all a bit irritable today. Especially my cranky eight year old. You would not believe the issues I had getting her to take just one picture for my blog today. The comments "if you didn't have a blog, you wouldn't need a picture, and I wouldn't have to take it, so stop doing your blog", "quit watching me", and several other comments along those lines. I think my husband is ready to kill me because I am replacing the shoe boxes in my closet with plastic see through boxes and I'm pitching all the paper boxes. I dumped them all into a trash bag and he went back through the bag and is breaking down the boxes. I hate breaking down boxes because they usually put up a fight, so I don't do it. I figure since I'm putting out the trash this week, who cares how I threw them away? In a couple of minutes, we're all headed off to church. Maybe that will cause us to play better together this afternoon. I doubt it, but hope springs eternal!
