Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a wear red day to work casual day today.  Normally, I don't like clothing related conformity
events, but today I decided to participate.  It was kind of fun walking around work today seeing everyone in red and I really think they should have gathered us all up and taken a big group picture!

Red isn't my favorite color to wear since I'm vampire pale, but this jacket from J Crew is awesome.  The color is more of an orangey red, the fit is great, the cut is up to date and it matches a ton of stuff in my closet.  I bought the exact same blazer in hot pink and cobalt because I absolutely love it.  I'm looking forward to pairing more colorful tops under this blue lace shirt.  I can't wait to try it with something green!

Channeling Spring

This outfit looked good in the conceptual design phase in my head.  Gotta say, I didn't really like it once it was on.  Shoes were a nightmare too.  I went with comfy today and honestly, I don't think it looked great.   Oh well, there's always tomorrow!

In a Pinch

I've been waiting for Kira's teacher to send home instructions for Valentine's Day, primarily do I need to send in a shoe box, or make a box, and send home the class list so we know how many Valentine's to buy. It's February 12 and nothing.  So, I'm thinking third grade isn't exchanging Valentine's.  Seems a little young to me to stop, but it has to stop sometime. During dinner tonight, Kira tells me that they are exchanging Valentines and it's been in the weekly newsletter for three weeks.  I went online and checked and sure enough, it was there.  I read the other side of the newsletter with all the assignments and apparently just ignore the first column.  Bad Mom.  Bad bad Mom.  Well, tonight was all about throwing together some form of container to place the Valentines in to take into school and to use to cart the Valentine's she'll receive home.  I've included pictures of our masterpiece at the end of this post.  I'm pretty happy with the result considering we threw it together with stuff I had in my craft room.  Dave went out and bought the Valentine's tonight, so only you and we know that we were remiss.  I have a bit of a type A personality, so placing them in a brown paper bag wasn't going to fly for me. 

By the way, the pants I wore today are what killed my ban on internet shopping.  It's the Gap's fault.

Pinky Dinky Doo

This outfit was inspired by Pinterest. I saved it with my outfit ideas and was planning on waiting until Spring to try it out.  I needed a little Spring today, so I decided I have no fashion rules and I was going for it!  Walking around work today, I noticed not many people were wearing bright colors and even fewer were wearing pink.  Instead of thinking that I stuck out, I thought "How sad for them!"

And She Brought It

Kira had a super busy day yesterday with a soccer game in the morning and a gymnastics meet all afternoon.  I was a little worried that she would be pooped for the meet, but she brought her A game yesterday.  In her age group, she placed first on floor, first on bars, fourth on beam and sixth on vault.  The most wonderful score was she placed first in all around.  She was beaming from ear to ear and we are so proud of her.  The best thing is, her bar routine was the best I've ever seen her perform and her walk out onto the floor for her floor routine looked so professional.

Cozy

We have an epic sports filled day today.  Kira has a soccer game this morning, and then we're racing home, eating lunch, throwing her leotard on her and then racing up north for a gymnastics meet.  The meets last hours upon hours.  So, today's outfit was for comfort and warmth.

Skinny Jeans

Today's outfit was inspired by a Boden USA catalogue.  In the catalogue, it was a yellow sweater and the polka dot shirt, but they paired it with a striped skirt.  I just changed it up a little.
